Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Oklahoma Weather Podcast — it's Tuesday, February 24th. Step outside right now and you'll feel 45 degrees of calm. . Because today's about to get loud. We're under a Red Flag Warning across nearly the entire state. Wind gusts hit 35 miles an hour, turning dry grass into a matchstick waiting for a spark. No outdoor burning today. Period. Central Oklahoma wakes up at 42 degrees around 5 A.M., but that wind makes it feel like 34. By 4 P.M., you're hitting 71 degrees under full sun. Those south-southwest winds howl at 15 to 22 miles an hour, gusting to 33 around 9 A.M. Tonight stays mild at 47, but the fire danger doesn't quit. Northeast Oklahoma starts even colder — 35 degrees at 5 A.M., feeling like 34. Winds shift from south to southwest around 11 A.M., gusting to 35 degrees as temps climb to 71 by afternoon. Overnight you drop to 46, but humidity stays dangerously low. Southwest Oklahoma? The wind's already cranking — 13 miles an hour overnight, gusting to 23 by 11 A.M. You start at 37 degrees, feeling like 35 degrees, but rocket to 76 by 4 P.M. Tonight dips to 45, but those gusts keep the fire threat alive. Here's your week ahead. We're locked into warm, windy. And dry through Saturday. Highs climb into the mid-70s — even 82 in the southwest by Friday. Then Sunday brings relief. A cold front sweeps in, dropping temps to the 60s and finally bringing a slight chance of rain. Northeast Oklahoma could see scattered showers Sunday into Monday. If you're traveling today, watch for sudden crosswinds on I-35 and I-40. Secure anything loose outside. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
