Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Oklahoma Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th.
Forty-nine degrees right now. Clear skies. And by this afternoon? Mid-70s statewide. That's a 38 degrees-degree jump in a single day.
Central Oklahoma climbs to 73 degrees this afternoon. Sunny skies and a light north breeze at 6 to 10 miles an hour. Tonight drops to 46 under mostly clear skies.
Northeast Oklahoma hits 72 today. Light winds make it feel even milder. Tonight's low settles at 44.
Southwest Oklahoma takes the crown. You're looking at 76 degrees this afternoon with gusts up to 20 miles an hour. Tonight holds at 45.
Friday keeps the heat rolling. Highs reach 76 in central Oklahoma, 79 in the northeast. And 78 in the southwest. More sun. More spring vibes.
Saturday is the peak. We're talking 82 to 84 degrees across the state. That's near-record territory for late February.. And about 38 degrees above normal.
But here's the catch. A cold front arrives Saturday night. Showers and thunderstorms become likely, especially in central and eastern Oklahoma. Sunday cools back into the 60s with rain chances continuing.
Next week brings a real pattern shift. Multiple rounds of rain and storms are possible Tuesday into Wednesday. Temperatures return closer to seasonal norms.
We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise this morning was at 7:05. Sunset tonight comes at 6:23. Spring equinox is just three weeks away.
Today's the day to get outside. Take a walk at lunch. Open the windows tonight. This kind of February warmth doesn't stick around.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
