Good evening! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Ohio Weather Podcast for Wednesday, February 25th.
Fifty two degrees and clear skies right now across Ohio. Feels like somebody left the door to March wide open.. But don't get too comfortable. Tonight's slamming it shut.
Southwest Ohio is soaking up the best of it. Cincinnati's at 54 degrees with sunshine. Enjoy that warmth while you can. A quick burst of snow sneaks in between 1 and 6 A.M. Less than half an inch, but enough to slick up your Thursday morning commute.
Columbus and central Ohio? Sitting at a pleasant 49 degrees. West winds around 13 miles an hour with gusts hitting 23. Tonight the bottom drops out. Twenty six degrees by morning.
Now push up I-20 to Cleveland. Forty degrees, but gusts to 24 miles an hour put some real teeth in that air. Lake effect snow showers roll in this evening into early Thursday. Under an inch for most spots, though the snowbelt could see a little more. By 1 A.M., wind chills make it feel like 17 degrees. Tonight's low hits 22.
Thursday keeps things calm statewide. Northeast Ohio hangs around 35 degrees. Central warms to 45. Southwest bounces back to 51.
Now the week ahead gets interesting. Friday feels like a gift. Highs surge into the upper 50s, flirting with 60 degrees under blue skies. Saturday stays mild. Then the plot twist. Saturday night through Monday, a significant storm system takes aim at Ohio. We're talking potential for several inches of snow. Details are still sharpening, but this one has my attention. I'll have updates every step of the way.
Quick bright spot. We gained over two minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 7:12 A.M., sunset at 6:20 P.M. Spring equinox is just three weeks out.
Charge your phone tonight. If that weekend storm develops, you'll want the forecast ready to go.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
