Show Notes

A Texas native, Chad Washington picked Penn State site unseen after meeting a campus recruiter. After arriving in Happy Valley, he experienced snow, wrote for the Daily Collegian, and like so many others, quickly embraced life a Nittany Lion. After graduation in 1998, Chad worked for outlets like CNN and Gannett Newspapers and covered the college football programs at Houston, Rice, Louisiana-Lafayette and LSU. Currently, he writes news and sports for the Fort Bend Herald (a suburban Houston newspaper), covering mostly high school and college football along with the NFL's Houston Texans. He is also an at-large board member of the Penn State Alumni Association Houston Chapter. He talks with the guys about learning to love Penn State basketball, covering Bill O'Brien and local fan sentiment around the former Lions coach, along with the wholly unique institution that is Texas high school football and the almost unthinkable prospect that it may not be played in 2020.
