Show Notes
Good morning. North Carolina. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Fifty-seven degrees already. And we're about to blow past that. We're talking upper 70s to around 80 degrees this afternoon. That's 48 degrees to 48 degrees warmer than normal for early March. Spring doesn't officially start for two more weeks, but someone forgot to tell the weather.
In the next 24 hours. Down in the Triangle, watch for patchy fog until about 8 A.M. It burns off fast. By mid-afternoon you're hitting 79 degrees with southwest winds gusting to 20 miles an hour. The Piedmont climbs to 78 under partly sunny skies. Push west into the mountains and you'll see 76 — still way above normal, just a touch cooler thanks to the elevation.
Tonight stays ridiculously mild. Lows only drop to the upper 50s, maybe 60. That's warmer than our average HIGH this time of year. Step outside after sunset and you'll catch the full moon rising. Perfect evening for it.
Friday keeps the warmth rolling. Triangle pushes 81 degrees. Slight chance of an afternoon shower, but most of us stay dry.
Then the pattern flips. A cold front stalls nearby this weekend, pulling in Gulf moisture. Shower and storm chances ramp up Saturday, especially Sunday. Sunday's the wetter day with a 60 percent chance of storms. Highs hold in the upper 70s though.
Early next week we stay mild with scattered showers possible each day. Tuesday could touch 83 in spots.
