Show Notes
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the North Carolina Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 23rd.
Folks, here's the deal. North Carolina can't decide what month it's today. The mountains are stubbornly clinging to winter while the Triangle is already window shopping for spring.
Let's take a drive west first. Asheville and the mountains top out at a cool 44 degrees. Winds gust to 13 miles an hour, and there's a slight chance of showers rolling through. The kind of day where you grab a jacket and don't question it. Tonight drops into the 30s. Tomorrow barely budges, hitting 46.
Now head east down I-40 into the Piedmont. Whole different vibe. You're looking at 52 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Winds are practically asleep, just 2 to 8 miles an hour. Tonight cools to the upper 30s. Saturday nudges up to 54.
The Triangle wins the warmth prize today. Raleigh hits 54 degrees with light west winds. Skies stay mostly dry. Tonight dips to around 40, and tomorrow copies today's playbook at 54. Perfect weather for finally getting outside if you ask me.
Quick note on air quality. It's moderate today. Fine for most folks, but sensitive groups, you'll want to take it easy.
Sunrise lands at 6:33 this morning, sunset at 5:18. We're gaining almost 3 minutes of daylight every single day. Spring is creeping closer.
Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Saturday stays mild, especially east of the mountains. Sunday a weak front slides through, cooling things down a touch. Nothing dramatic. Early next week we hover in the low to mid 50s across most of the state. No major storms on the horizon. Just a gentle late February coast toward March.
One more thing. If this forecast helped you plan your Friday, share it with someone who needs it. Word of mouth keeps us going.
Stay safe out there, folks. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
