Show Notes

Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the North Carolina Weather Podcast for Tuesday, February 24th. Folks, that sunshine overhead is lying to you. We dropped to 29 degrees overnight. And right now you're feeling 34. Winter's not done throwing punches just yet. The good news? Bone dry across all of North Carolina today and tonight. The Triangle sits under blue skies right now. You'll top out near 47 degrees with a gentle west wind around 8 miles an hour. Clouds creep in tonight, lows near 38. Over in the Piedmont, partly sunny and a hair warmer. High near 48 with west winds around 10 miles an hour. Around 11 AM it still feels like 32 degrees, so keep that jacket handy. Tonight dips to 39 under thickening clouds. Push west into the mountains and that crisp air turns sharp. High near 47, but 11 AM feels like 31 degrees. That's the kind of cold that bites through your fleece. Tonight drops to 31. Now.. Here's where it gets interesting. Wednesday the whole script flips. Southwest winds kick up, gusting 20 to 30 miles an hour. And temperatures vault into the upper 50s and low 60s statewide. A 31 degree jump overnight. Your thermostat won't know what hit it. Thursday brings rain. A strong chance across central North Carolina, with some spots picking up a half inch or more. The system clears by Friday night. And the weekend? Saturday delivers sunshine and mid 60s. Sunday the Piedmont could flirt with 70 degrees. That's a 31 degree warmup from where you're standing right now. One more thing worth celebrating. Sunrise hit 6:52 this morning. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight every single day. You can feel it. Charge up those phones tonight. Wednesday's wind might knock a few things around. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
