Good afternoon. North Carolina. I'm Aaron Jolly. High pressure is taking charge today. That means the clouds are packing their bags and sunshine is taking over the stage. It sets up a beautiful Saturday, though you'll want to watch for some patchy fog late tonight. In the next 24 hours. This afternoon is looking fantastic. Expect plenty of sunshine across the Piedmont, where highs climb to 66 degrees. The Triangle Region sees similar warmth, topping out near 62 degrees with light northwest winds. Head into the mountains around Asheville. and you'll enjoy mostly sunny skies with a high of 66. Tonight, the sky stays mostly clear. Lows drop to around 45 degrees in the Piedmont. The Triangle cools to 44. Western North Carolina dips a bit cooler to 40 degrees. Keep an eye out for patchy fog developing after 5 A.M., especially south of Interstate 85. Sunday brings even more warmth. Highs reach 75 in the Piedmont under mostly sunny skies. The Triangle hits 74. The mountains climb to 68. It's a perfect day to get outside. A cold air damming event develops Monday. This locks in cooler air and brings a chance of rain, mainly north of Interstate 78 degrees. Highs drop to the upper 40s. The wedge erodes by Wednesday. We warm back up quickly, with highs returning to the 70s. Late week looks fantastic, with temperatures possibly nearing record highs by Friday.
