Show Notes

Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. That stubborn gray ceiling overhead? It's the last gasp of a stalled cold front to our south. Cool, moist air trapped at the surface has kept us socked in all day. We picked up just two-hundredths of an inch of rain overnight. and that damp, raw feel isn't going anywhere just yet. In the next 24 hours. In Here's catch for your friday night plans, fog develops after 9 P.M. Across the Piedmont and Triangle. Some of it could turn dense, especially in those low-lying areas. If you're driving late, give yourself extra time and keep plenty of distance between you and the taillights ahead. Lows will settle around 43 to 45 degrees. But the pattern breaks this weekend. That stubborn gray blanket finally lifts Saturday. Cold air damming crumbles. and temperatures respond fast. We're talking highs near 65 degrees in the Triangle, 66 in the Piedmont. and 65 out west with partly sunny skies by afternoon. Sunday is the real prize. High pressure builds in with some downslope warming. That pushes us about 34 degrees above normal. The Piedmont and Triangle both climb to 73 degrees. Western North Carolina sits a touch cooler at 67. Either way, it's spectacular February weather. Monday brings a reality check. Cold air damming returns. and highs crash back into the upper 40s. There's even a slight chance of a wintry mix Monday afternoon into evening across northern North Carolina. Nothing certain yet, but worth watching. We warm right back into the 70s by Wednesday and Thursday. Rain chances return late in the week. Grab that extra cup of coffee tomorrow morning. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
