"Hatching" had its world premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival as a part of its Midnight Section and is now being released by IFC Midnight this weekend in limited release. The coming-of-age horror film boasts some incredibly gruesome practical creature effects, which harkens back to horror films of the 70s and 80s with an outstanding dual performance from the film's breakout star, Siiri Solalinna. Director Hannah Bergholm was kind enough to spend a few minutes talking with us about the film's story, Siiri's performance, the film's special effects, and more.
