"Cassandro" had its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for Gael García Bernal's lead performance. Academy Award-winning documentarian director Roger Ross Williams ("Life Animated") made his narrative feature debut with this film and also received warm notices for his direction of an openly gay wrestler in the world of Lucha Libre wrestling. Ross Williams was kind enough to spend a few minutes talking with us about his work on the film, moving from making shorts and documentaries into narrative features, collaborating with García Bernal and global superstar Bad Bunny, and more.
