Two NYC lawyers and and upstate woman are face federal charges in Molotov cocktail attacks on NYPD. Crazy old dude chases BLM protesters with 4-blade Wolverine glove, after they hurl bottles and insults at the man's passing car in Whitestone. A lenient judge releases a looter without bail after he was arrested for bashing an NYPD cop over the head with a large bong he'd just stolen from a nearby smoke shop. As the dust settles on the riots, in which 450 businesses were looted in the 5 boroughs, more light-hearted protests continue and, as Seth Barron points out, there's a good reason for that: The NY State Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio have determined that protesting the police is the ONLY sanctioned activity, and the only way people in NYC are legally allowed to gather in groups! No doubt, this increases attendance, especially among younger New Yorkers who are sick of not hanging out with their friends. Thousands have been gathering in Brooklyn and in Washington Square Park in the Village, whether they support the cause or not. Meanwhile, in front of a few city bars, where liquor can legally be sold to go during this time, people congregated in small groups to enjoy the warmer weather and shake off lockdown fatigue, some of them socializing in public for the first time in months. After the city and Gov Cuomo gave the protesters their blessing to march, chant and sometimes loot and vandalize businesses throughout the city for two weeks, law-abiding New Yorkers figured they were due some slack. Nope. Gov. Cuomo sternly admonished New Yorkers, threatened to revoke liquor licenses of bars, harass anyone socializing outside bars or in parks and publicly told the mayor that if he didn't get a handle on things, the state would step in and cancel the reopening of businesses and send us all back to our apartments, as punishment (er.. to keep us all from dying of COVID19.) After a while, you get sort of tired of trying to be so polite. The protesters who seem to be everywhere at once are well-funded, organized and on a mission to literally bring America to its knees. It's not to make a point about peoples' lives mattering, and don't get mad at me for telling the truth here. Watch as these protesters force minor confrontations with police, then cry foul? Why does this particular cause suddenly involve the mob making bizarre, emasculating demands? ("Kneel before me and apologize.") Why have protesters insisted that officers march with them? Pose with them? Why are we seemingly expected to make excuses for looters robbing stores, vandals breaking windows, protesters accosting cops, blocking traffic. Why is there ONLY ONE SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE WAY to feel about all this? And *WHY* do our mayors and governors maintain emergency powers when the curve was flattened 2 months ago? Why do they keep insisting we cover our faces? and why do the restrictions bend so easily for protesters? Would this be allowed if there was any significant health risk? It wouldn't. There isn't, and something else is happening which badly needs to be addressed.
