Daron Acemoğlu & Simon Johnson join the podcast to discuss their new book Power and Progress, where they argue that without guidance, new technology does not necessarily benefit the masses. We discuss the history of technological development, whether automation is inherently good or bad, and both the benefits and the pitfalls of the democratic control of technology.
