Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the New Hampshire Weather Podcast for Tuesday, February 24th. Folks, that nor'easter left us a parting gift. Half an inch of snow and some gusty winds still kicking it around. Blowing snow should quit before 7 AM. Then.. Sunshine. Real, honest sunshine. Enjoy it while you can, because tonight gets brutal. Southern New Hampshire climbs to 28 degrees around 3 PM. Central towns hit 27 by 2 PM. The White Mountains peak at 27 around 1 PM. Not warm, but with that sun on your face, it almost feels earned. Now the plot twist. After sunset, temperatures fall off a cliff. By 4 AM, southern and central New Hampshire bottom out near 6 degrees. The White Mountains? Three degrees. That's the kind of cold where your nose hairs freeze on contact. Step out around 8 PM in the south and you're feeling 9 degrees. Up in the mountains, 5. Cover every inch of skin you can. And here's what's sneaking in behind the cold. Snow returns Wednesday morning. Flakes start around 5 AM. It peaks near 10 AM and wraps up by 11 AM. One to 3 inches in the south and mountains. One to 2 central. That morning commute is going to be slick, so give yourself extra time. Looking ahead, Wednesday afternoon clears out. Thursday and Friday reward your patience with upper 30s. Then Saturday.. 46 to 47 degrees. That's practically spring. Your snow piles will be weeping. Don't get too comfortable though. Cold air slides back in early next week. One bright spot worth mentioning. We're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:32 AM, sunset at 5:29 PM. The light is coming back, even if winter hasn't gotten the memo. Charge your phone tonight. Cold like this drains batteries faster than you'd think. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
