Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the New Hampshire Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 23rd.
Folks, New Hampshire can't pick a season today. The White Mountains are stuck at 19 degrees, full winter mode. Drive south to the central valleys and you're feeling 37 degrees. That's an 18 degree swing across one state.
Here's the deal. Step outside in southern New Hampshire and you'll feel 24 degrees with a light northeast breeze. Not brutal, but you'll want that heavy coat. Now head up toward Concord and the central corridor. Southeast winds are pushing temps near 40 degrees. Almost spring like. Your jacket might come off by lunch. But the Whites? Northeast winds are locking those peaks in the teens. That's the kind of cold where your nose hairs freeze on contact.
Tonight, everybody cools off. Southern areas drop to the low 20s. Central New Hampshire settles into the upper teens. The mountains? Single digits. Your car battery will have opinions about that.
Here's what's coming your way this weekend. Saturday brings a nice warm up. Southern New Hampshire climbs to the mid 30s. Central hits the low 40s. Even the Whites finally crack the mid 20s. Sunrise lands at 6:33 AM, and we're gaining almost 3 minutes of daylight every day now. Spring is quietly sharpening its elbows.
By Monday, most of the state flirts with 40 degrees. That warming trend holds into midweek, when a system might bring some light snow or rain. Nothing to lose sleep over. Air quality sits at moderate today, so outdoor plans are totally fine. Just bundle up if you're anywhere near the mountains.
One more thing. If this forecast helped you plan your Friday, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there!
