Good evening! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the New Hampshire Weather Podcast for Wednesday, February 25th.
That dusting overnight? Just winter reminding you it's still here. Two tenths of an inch. Barely enough to brush off the windshield. But the gray skies hanging around today.. Those feel heavier than the snow ever was.
Southern New Hampshire pushes to 36 degrees this afternoon. Partly sunny. Not bad for late February. Central towns match that 36. Up in the White Mountains, you top out at 31. Still feels like winter has its boots on up there.
Now tonight is where it gets interesting. Snow showers creep in from the north. The mountains could see flakes as early as 9 P.M. Central New Hampshire picks them up around 11 P.M. Southern towns.. Between 10 P.M. and 2 A.M. Nothing major. Maybe a light coating. The kind of snow that makes the morning commute just annoying enough to matter.
Lows tonight drop to 23 south, 21 central. And a sharp 17 in the mountains. That's the kind of cold that makes your steering wheel feel personal.
Thursday morning? Sunshine. Real, clean sunshine statewide. Highs around 35 to 36 everywhere. Enjoy that daylight.. Because Thursday night the bottom drops out. Lows crash to 11 south, 9 central. And 6 degrees in the mountains. Your car might need a pep talk.
The week ahead tells a better story though. Saturday surges to 47 degrees statewide. Forty seven. In February. That's open the windows and confuse the cat weather. Sunday brings a chance of light snow, then colder air slides back in early next week. Highs retreat to the 20s.
One bright spot to hold onto. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every day. Spring equinox is just three weeks out.
Charge your phone tonight. Cold batteries are cranky batteries.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
