Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the New Hampshire Weather Podcast. It's Monday, February 23rd.. And folks, this is a stay home day. A blizzard is hammering southern New Hampshire right now. Snow started falling hard at 5 A.M. And won't quit until 7 P.M. The worst hits around 9 A.M., when visibility drops to almost nothing. Portsmouth down through Manchester and Nashua, you're looking at 7 to 11 inches. Winds are screaming out of the north at 20 to 25 miles an hour, gusting to 45. That's whiteout territory on I-95 and the Spaulding Turnpike. Tonight temperatures crash to 17 degrees. Wind chills by 8 A.M. Tomorrow? Four degrees. The kind of cold that stings your lungs. Now the coast gets a double punch. A coastal flood warning kicks in from 1 P.M. To 6 P.M. Storm surge of 2 to 3 feet plus 15 foot waves. That means flooding, beach erosion. And rocks tossed onto coastal roads south of Portsmouth. Push inland toward Concord and the Lakes Region. You're catching 3 to 7 inches, heaviest between 5 A.M. And 7 P.M. Winds shift northwest around 5 P.M., piling snow into drifts that'll swallow your mailbox. Highs barely touch 30 degrees. Tonight drops to 15 with wind chills near 5 by 5 A.M. Up in the White Mountains, you'll want to breathe a little easier. A brief snow chance around 7 A.M. Drops maybe an inch. Highs reach 31 degrees. Tonight settles to 15 with just a slight chance of light snow. Looking ahead, Tuesday brings sunshine but brutal cold.. Lows near 6 degrees in central New Hampshire. Wednesday another 1 to 3 inches sneaks in with highs in the mid 30s. Thursday and Friday gradually warm toward 38 to 40 degrees. Then Saturday.. Mid 40s and mostly sunny. That's practically beach weather after today. If you're stuck inside today, charge your phones and fill the bathtub just in case the power flickers. I'll be tracking this one all night. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
