Show Notes

We've announced a new member of the Superheroes of Finance: Intangible Girl. NetSuite content director, Barney Beal, joins us to dive into her origin story, superpowers and how she helps growing businesses (4:55). He also explains why accounting for intangible assets is challenging (6:25) and how automating the process with systems like NetSuite helps businesses overcome that challenge (8:17). Then, we hear from a real-life superhero of finance, Jun Feng, a controller at Contentstack. She unveils her own origin story and technology-driven superpowers (11:53) before explaining some of the systemic and operational "villains" she faced in joining Contentstack, like siloed systems, spreadsheets and lack of accurate and real-time data (18:42). Feng discusses leveraging technology like NetSuite to overcome those obstacles, automating key processes and reducing manual data entry (20:31), which has also helped in Contentstack's continued growth (27:31). Finally, Feng shares a message for the "unsung heroes" of finance and accounting, and what she wishes we all knew about teams like hers (33:55).
