Good morning. Nebraska. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Step outside this morning and you'll feel that classic early March chill. But don't let it fool you. Today's just the calm before a *wild* temperature swing.
**Eastern Nebraska** wakes up to 35 degrees but climbs to a crisp 52 by afternoon. Winds out of the west-northwest at 6 to 12 miles an hour will make it feel cooler than it looks. Tonight? Mostly clear skies with lows dipping to 38—then *rising* overnight as warm air starts pushing in.
**Southeast Nebraska** follows a similar script—53 degrees today, then a jump to 69 on Sunday. That's running 25 degrees above normal, folks. But watch out late Tuesday when a cold front swings through, bringing rain changing to snow. We're talking potential slick spots by Wednesday morning.
**Western Nebraska** starts colder at 28 this morning but still reaches 55 today. The real drama comes Sunday with highs near 69—*20 degrees above normal*—and gusty west winds up to 25 miles an hour. Fire weather concerns will be elevated with humidity dropping below 20 percent.
In Here's big picture, this weekend's quiet weather is just the setup. By Monday. Here comes highs in the *70s*—yes, 70s—in early March. But Tuesday's cold front reminds us winter isn't done yet, with rain and snow chances and a sharp cooldown. Wednesday morning could see lows in the 20s out west, with lingering snow showers.
In Sunrise was at 6, 50 this morning. And we're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight each day now. The spring equinox is just 13 days away, but Nebraska's weather clearly didn't get the memo—we're getting a summer preview *and* winter reminders in the same forecast.
If you're planning any outdoor projects. Sunday is your golden window. Just keep that fire safety in mind out west.
See you tomorrow.
See you this afternoon.
