Jason Scott talks with Andreas Westphal, UC Riverside, about the economic benefits of using improved walnut rootstocks. Andreas discusses some of the work done by a team of research scientists from the University of California, USDA-ARS, and California State University at Fresno. He talks about how they have come together to further improve rootstocks available for commercial production. The research group, with the aid of federal funding, aims to make improvements that can sustain soilborne pathogens.
