S2 Ep 5S05 Episode 2 - Belonging in STEM
EI’m pretty excited about this episode. My friend Kori, and former kickball team mate, also happens to have a PhD in Educational Psychology and every time I talk to her I am amazed by her wisdom. In this episode, we delve into research on belonging in STEM through a critical lens. The discussion reveals that the view of STEM as inherently objective, rational, and logical is a cultural assumption rooted in whiteness, which can exclude people of color and other ways of knowing, such as indigenous perspectives. By examining how systems of power impact context and belonging, particularly for Black and Latina students, we aim to challenge and deconstruct these prevailing perceptions in STEM.Find out more about Dr. Kori: https://education.indiana.edu/about/directory/profiles/nicolai-korinthia.html Get full access to Like Quiche at www.likequiche.com/subscribe

On today's show, we welcome half of the team of authors of the book "Learning Our Names: Asian American Christians on Identity, Relationships, and Vocation." and this episode is dear to my heart as I also live on the intersection of my Asian identity.
