Show Notes

Good afternoon. Mississippi. I'm Matt Mullins. If you stepped outside early, you felt it. That thick, muggy air clinging to your skin like a wet towel. Last night's rain dumped over an inch statewide. And those clouds are still loitering this morning. The heavy stuff is done, though. A few stray showers might pop up around noon, but most of you stay dry as skies gradually clear this afternoon. Temperature-wise, we're running warm for early March. Central Mississippi tops out near 76 degrees before cooling to 72 this afternoon. The Gulf Coast sits at 74, dropping to 70. Northern Mississippi reaches 73. Tonight's mild too — lows settle in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Monday brings our next weather story. And it's a doozy. A warm front lifts north, pumping in Gulf moisture and cranking up instability. By afternoon, thunderstorms fire up. And some could turn severe — especially north of Interstate 20. We're talking golf ball-sized hail as the primary threat, with damaging winds and maybe a brief tornado possible. Rain chances hit 60 percent, with highs climbing to 78 in the north, 80 in central areas. And 75 along the coast. Here's the week ahead. Tuesday stays mostly cloudy with highs in the low 80s — no rain. Wednesday's the big one. Another storm system rolls through with showers and thunderstorms likely, especially afternoon and evening. We could see another round of severe weather. Behind that front. Thursday turns cooler and sunny — highs only in the low 60s, with morning lows dropping to the low 40s. Friday and Saturday? Beautiful. Sunshine returns, temps climb back to the 70s. In Bottom line, enjoy the quiet today, but stay weather-aware Monday and Wednesday. See you this evening.
