Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Mississippi Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 16th.
Folks, Mississippi can't decide what season it wants to be today. Northern Mississippi wakes up under gray skies with a chance of showers. Highs up there barely crack the upper 60s. That's sweater weather by our standards.
Now head south on I-55. Here's the deal. Central Mississippi is living its best life at 77 degrees under mostly dry skies. That's the kind of afternoon where you eat lunch outside and don't regret it. Keep driving down to the Gulf Coast and you're seeing mid 70s with just a whisper of breeze off the water. Perfect for a stroll along the beach in Biloxi.
Tonight, northern counties dry out and dip into the 50s. Central and Gulf Coast? You're holding steady in the 60s. Leave those windows cracked if you want free air conditioning.
Here's where it gets fun. Saturday brings a statewide warmup. Northern Mississippi climbs to near 70 degrees. Central and the Coast? You're pushing into the mid 80s. In February. Let that sink in. Sunday stays dry with highs holding steady. Slather on sunscreen if you're heading to any outdoor plans this weekend.
Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Warmth sticks around like a guest who loves your cooking. Highs stay in the 70s and 80s through Wednesday with no major rainmakers in sight. Air quality sits at moderate today, so sensitive groups might want to take it easy outside.
One bright note. Sunrise hits at 6:33 this morning, sunset at 5:18. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every single day now. Spring is creeping closer, folks.
Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your Friday, share it with a neighbor who could use the heads up.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there!
