Good evening. Mississippi. I'm Michael Mosby. Step outside and you feel it, summer heat in mid-March. We're sitting at 74 degrees right now under a clear sky, that's well above normal for this time of year. But this calm morning is misleading, a dramatic weather change is just 36 hours away. Folks, we've a classic spring battle setting up. Sunday brings dangerous severe weather, followed immediately by a hard freeze. As the sun sets. Central Mississippi, you've one more nice day, tonight stays mild with a low near 57. Sunday turns windy and warm with a high near 82, then, storms crash in Sunday night. Expect rain and thunderstorms between 8 P.M. and midnight, the rain clears out by Monday morning, leaving us at 48 degrees. Monday night turns brutally cold with a low near 26. Down along the Gulf Coast, you're sitting at 64 degrees today. And tonight stays mostly cloudy with a low around 64. Sunday features a high near 76, sunday night brings heavy rain and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, monday stays blustery with a high near 57. Watch for a freeze Monday night with lows dipping to 36. Up north in Northern Mississippi, you're currently at 55 degrees, while expect a low near 55 tonight. Sunday is windy with a high near 78, the severe risk is highest here Sunday evening. Some storms could be severe, then, the weather whiplash hits. A chance of rain and snow showers lingers early Monday, you only reach 44 degrees Monday. Monday night is dangerous with a low near 23. In Looking ahead, here's your heads-up for week ahead, sunday night is the main event. A squall line will race statewide with damaging winds up to 75 miles an hour and possible tornadoes. The highest risk is across Northern Mississippi, while once that front passes, arctic air rushes in. Monday night into Tuesday morning, most of us see freezing temperatures, this will likely kill sensitive vegetation. Protect your plants!
