Show Notes

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Mississippi Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th. Step outside right now and you'll feel 48 degrees under a thick blanket of clouds. But those clouds? They're about to pack up and leave. Central Mississippi starts the morning at 47 degrees around 5 A.M. By 4 P.M., you're hitting 73. That's a 40 degrees climb. South winds blow steady around 11 miles an hour, gusting to 30 at times. Not a drop of rain today. Down along the Gulf Coast, you're waking up to 52 degrees around 5 A.M. You reach 68 by 1 P.M. as winds shift from southwest to south around 10 A.M. Mostly sunny skies and another dry day. Now head north and the story changes. You start at 43 degrees around 5 A.M., feeling more like 37 with the breeze. By 2 P.M., you're at 68. But here's where it gets interesting.. Thunderstorms roll in around 6 P.M. They stick around through 5 A.M. Thursday, peaking around 4 A.M. Could get loud overnight. Thursday is the main event statewide. Showers and thunderstorms become likely across central Mississippi. Northern Mississippi sees the best storm chances. The Gulf Coast catches rain by Thursday night. Friday clears out beautifully. Low 70s with sunshine returning. The weekend looks outstanding. Saturday and Sunday bring sunny skies with highs climbing into the mid to upper 70s. We're gaining nearly two minutes of daylight each day now. Spring equinox sits just three weeks away. Enjoy the warmth while it lasts. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
