S1 Ep 70Wisdom Transfer Dilemma
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss the challenge of taking wisdom and sharing it with other people. John talks about a statue that sits in his den. It has three men that are climbing. The lowest guy is struggling, the middle guy is going sideways, and the third guy is going straight up. When John looks at that statue each morning, he thinks about his own life. The guy at the lowest level was was John in his 30s. The guy going sideways was John in his 40s. And the guy going straight up John in his 50s. John sees that when he started going straight up in his 50s, he saw and understood things he never understood before. He gained wisdom from the book Think and Grow Rich. He was just operating on a higher level. He understood how the human mind worked, and that was the difference Kelly talks about how she has learned from other people as well. But so often people in their 30s and 40s don’t think they have that much to learn. So they’re not receptive to the wisdom of others. But John points out that oftentimes the wisdom is something profoundly simple. It’s not like you’re learning to split the atom. Like for John learning that 95% of his daily actions was unconscious was critical. Learning how the human mind works. Ultimately he learned how to work smarter not harder.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 68Most People Are Re-Creating The Past-Joe Dispenza
In this episode John and Kelly discuss an idea that comes from Joe Dispenza. He says that when we wake up each morning, we are oriented to our recent past. To our familiar past. So when our eyes open each morning, three things are going on. First we’re innately wired for survival. Which causes us to be fear-based and reactive. Secondly, 95% of our daily thoughts and actions are unconscious. And third, and this is what Joe Dispenza adds to the equation, we are oriented to the recent past. So the effect is when you open your eyes each morning, you’re fear-based and reactive. With the vast majority of your thoughts being fear-based, with 95% of them being unconscious. And you’re thinking about the recent past. Your problems and may be little things that hurt you over the last few days. That then produces feelings. And those feelings create more negative thoughts. It’s a spiraling negative loop that causes you to continually re-create the past. Thoughts are the language of the mind and feelings are the language of the body. So when you get in this negative loop to continually re-create the past, nothing is pulling you forward. That’s why the think it be it 12 minute a day methodology is so powerful. Where you articulate the succinct articulation of your desired life. Exactly the person you want to be, exactly what you want to accomplish and precisely how you can achieve your clearly defined goals. About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 67Success Is Something You Attract, Not Chase (Encore)
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the concept that success is something you attract, rather than something you chase. By being the type of person that does attract success. As Kelly points out, BE then DO. John makes the analogy of someone trying to catch a butterfly. It’s very elusive. Just like success. But if you become the person that you need to be in order to be successful, you will attract success. Kelly talked about the idea of envisioning the best version of yourself 10 years from now. And envisioning what you would have accomplished. Then seeing the type of person you would need to be in order to attain that level of success. It’s a great analogy. Putting yourself in a third-party position to see the person you need to be in order to attract the success you want is a fundamental concept. In this podcast John also points out the power of the think it be it method. Your defining exactly the person you want to be, exactly what you want to accomplish, and precisely how you can achieve your clearly defined goals. Then you feed that to yourself every day using the think it be it template. Since 95% of a person’s daily thoughts and actions are unconscious, when you feed that to your subconscious mind that’s who you actually become. Your subconscious mind makes you into what you’re feeding it. Powerfully simple. The science of leveraging yourself.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 66We All Have A Big Problem We Must Overcome: We Are wired For Survival Not Success
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss the idea that we all have a problem in life that we must overcome. We are all innately wired for survival, not success. And here’s the impact of being wired for survival. It causes 70% of our thoughts to be fear-based. We’re reactive rather than proactive on our important agenda. So think about that. If you’re innately wired to be fear-based and reactive, that’s exactly the opposite of how you need to be in order to be productive creative and happy. And to say that another way, you’re wired for failure. During the discussion Kelly talks about social media. And how it puts being wired for survival on steroids. Social media is driven on comparison and fear. During the discussion Kelly and John talk about the fact that the input you have coming in your head determines the quality of your life. So if you’re spending too much time on social media, that has a negative impact on your life. John also points out that in working with people he often sees that people say they feel like they are playing the game of life that 10% to 20% of their potential. And John connects the dots. Your daily actions determine your success in each area of your life. And John says that 95% of a person’s thoughts and actions are unconscious. So if you’re not controlling your unconscious daily thoughts and actions, of course you’re playing the game of life it 10% – 20% of your potential. And you fix all this by influencing those unconscious daily thoughts and actions. By feeding the succinct articulation of your life yourself each day. Exactly the person you want to be, exactly what you want to accomplish, and precisely how you’re can achieve your clearly defined goals. Then the right actions happen automatically without thinking.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 65Personal Responsibility
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss personal responsibility. To launch into this topic, John plays a five minute presentation by Darren Hardy. After the clip plays, John and Kelly unpack what we learned. The first thing we learn is that you created the life you have. Whatever you have in your life, both good and bad, you created it. The second thing we learned is that cornerstone of personal responsibility is never being a victim. Eliminating victimhood. They also talk about the idea of looking at what you are tolerating in your life. That can be as bad as bad choices. John and Kelly also talk about the most precious gift we have. Controlling your attention. Because what you give your attention to determines the input that comes in your head. And that input determines your thoughts, which determines your actions, which ultimately determines your success in each area of your life. S1 Ep 64Why Are Only 2% Of People Driven
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss the fact that only 2% of people are driven. John explains that he first discovered this about five years ago. He decided to go to the top expert in the world on success and share think it be it with him or her. As it turns out, John decided that Darren Hardy was the top expert in the world on success. So after he writes a big check and goes out to California, John meets with Darren. Shows him the think it be it template and explains the methodology. And after Darren looked at it very closely he says “this is good”. But Darren says that people are not going to spend 12 minutes a day on this. John couldn’t believe it. John goes how can that be? It 25X my income, Time Magazine did a cover story on the science behind this, and you’re applying the central concept of the top book in the world on success to your life. What you mean that they won’t spend 12 minutes a day on this? Darren says John, you’re new to the success business. The dirty little secret is that most people won’t do anything to impact their success. Because more success is merely a preference. Merely a preference. Darren said you have to only show this to the 2% of people where more success is a necessity. The people that are truly driven. John said that was so eye-opening. And over the subsequent years, what Darren said has proven to be so true. Kelly mentioned that the fact that only 2% of people are driven has a lot to do with self-worth. She’s reading a new book and if people don’t have a strong self-worth, they won’t be driven. John also talks about how his friend and recent student of think it be it Steve Pendergrast is now teaching a group of his own the methodology of think it be it. And he related the story to John that one of the students told him that the reason he didn’t have his homework assignment done is because he was too busy. Steve confronts his student on that. What would be more important than taking your own life to a new level. To improving your life. What’s more important than that. Well the Takeaway is this person he was talking to is not driven. S1 Ep 63We Live In An “Absence Of Truth” World
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss the fact that we live in an absence of truth world. There are no facts today. Everything is opinions. And the effect of that is it is hard to move forward in resolving important issues. John gives the example of rising crime. So how do we solve the problem. When you dig into the facts, you discover that the vast majority of crime is committed by just a few repeat offenders. Well logically, if that is true, the solution is essentially to lock ‘em up and throw away the key. But in this country with the progressive left, there is this belief that incarcerating people is racist because more people of color are incarcerated. Therefore they let repeat offenders out with no bail. And that’s what striving crime in many places today. Well that type of boneheaded thinking reflects lack of understanding the facts. Another example is the covid vaccine. In the United States we lost about 1 million people from Covid. In looking at the facts, millions of people were saved from the vaccine. In fact the two developers of the covid vaccine won the Nobel Prize last year for it. How do we move forward regarding vaccines in the future if we can’t acknowledge the truth about the Covid vaccine. Then the third example. John’s favorite. The big lie that Trump promotes that the last presidential election was stolen from him. Yet there’s not a scintilla of evidence to support that. And John sees that when he gets in discussions with his friends that believe the election was stolen, which is what 60% of Republicans believe, nothing can get resolved because they ignore the facts. Then we switch to a lighter topic. John talks about five keywords or phrases that are often said in a good romantic relationship. Here are the five phrases. Thank you, I’m sorry and I apologize, I like you, I’m committed to you, help me understand. If you say these phrases often in your relationship, you’ve got a great romantic relationship. S1 Ep 62You Get In Life What You Expect
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss that you get in life is what you create. But what drives the creative process? It’s what we expect. Expectations manifest themselves. So let’s think about this a little deeper. If expectations manifest themselves, what drives our expectations? It’s our thoughts. And our thoughts are dictated by the input we have coming in. Garbage in, garbage out. Good in, good out. John plays a two minute presentation by Darren Hardy about this. After the presentation, John and Kelly relate it to the think it be it methodology. Your expectations manifest themselves. So it’s important to have clarity about your expectations. And that’s what the think it be it 12 minute day methodology does. By feeding the succinct articulation of your life, exactly the person you want to be, exactly what you want to accomplish, and precisely how you’re going to achieve your clearly defined goals, that’s the ultimate in defining your expectations. And what you expect is what ends up showing up in your life. About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 61Seek To Understand Instead Of Trying To Be Understood (Encore)
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the idea of seeking to understand before you try to be understood. John mentions that this is one of the seven habits of highly successful people. He recently read that book again and this was the habit that really caught his attention. Kelly and John talk about how innately we don’t like people who think differently than we do. That happens at a subconscious level. But of course people don’t think like we do. Everyone is simply a reflection of three things. Their genetics, what has come into their consciousness to this point in their life, and whether they have estrogen or testosterone flowing through their veins. Everyone is unique. To expect that people will think like you do doesn’t make sense. And that’s why it makes so much sense to apply this idea of seeking to understand before trying to be understood. Kelly talks about how she applies this to her team in her business. John talks about how he’s been trying to improve his skills in this regard with his wife Ginger. At the end John talks about how to apply this idea using Think It Be It’s 12 minute a day technique.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 60Growth (Encore)
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about growing intellectually. And how important it is to make your personal growth both consistent (every week) as well as strategic relative to what you want to accomplish. Kelly describes a great system she’s created for herself. Every Sunday she defines the things she’s going to listen to during the week. Listening to the content primarily when she’s exercising. And it’s always strategic relative to what you want to accomplish. As an example, she wanted to get government contracts for her recruitment business. So she listened to content on government contracts. Very strategic. John talks about when he was 50 years old he realized that he wasn’t growing intellectually. He was too busy for personal growth. Big mistake. He fixed it with the system he created. And it made him a conduit of learning. With the wisdom of experts coming into his head every week. At the end John talks about how he articulates his personal growth plan in his life GPS template that he reads each day.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 59What Is Your Superpower – Everyone Has One
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss the fact that everyone has a superpower. And there’s power in knowing what it is and playing into it. Kelly’s superpower is being a people person. Being able to make people feel heard and recognized. Having empathy. John goes on to say that his superpower is being able to take the complex and make it simple. John discovered this when he was 27 years old working as a CPA. And he saw that talent playing out throughout his life. When he launched into being an entrepreneur at 30, he was able to prepare the investment brochure in a way that made the complex simple. So investors would ride a check to fund his real estate development. Then when he got into the reverse mortgage business at 50, he made reverse mortgages simple. And now in the success business, John makes success simple. John then talks about how so often people don’t understand how profound it is that 95% of a person’s daily thoughts and actions are unconscious. John and Kelly discuss the ramifications. During this podcast John also talks about eight different superpowers that people can choose from, in order to give them some perspective as to what the potential superpowers are. S1 Ep 58Listening To Your Visualization Rather Than Reading It
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss an innovation to the think it be it methodology. You can listen to your daily visualization rather than read it. John explains that he’s been reading his visualization for like 20 years. But he is so enamored now with being able to listen to it instead. Every way after he wakes up , John puts on his headphones and then presses a button in the think it be it app. He then closes his eyes and listens to his visualization. John and Kelly discuss how listening influences the subconscious mind slightly different than reading. But it’s still repetition, which is the only stimulus that influences the subconscious mind. In this episode John and Kelly talk about what we say at the start of this podcast. Once we learned one thing, our lives were never the same. That one thing is that 95% of our daily thoughts and actions are unconscious. The more you think about this, the more profound you see that it is. Essentially your subconscious mind controls your life. Because your daily actions determine your success. So let’s connect the dots. Your thoughts determine your actions and your actions determine your success in each area of your life. The fact that 95% of your thoughts are unconscious is the opportunity. If your thoughts were conscious, there would be no way you could control your thoughts. But by virtue of them being unconscious, all you have to do is get into the mechanism that is generating your thoughts. The subconscious mind. And once you influence the subconscious mind, proactively, your life is never the same. About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 57How Do You Answer “How Are You Doing”? (Encore)
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about how you answer the daily question “how are you doing “. It has a huge impact on how you influence others as well as how you influence yourself. Kelly says that when she is asked that question, her standard response is “EXCELLENT”. For John, he answers “living the dream”. Regarding influencing yourself with your answer, John says it sets the tone for your inner world and how you view your life. John also points out that life is a state of mind. So his reply to this daily question is really important. And it’s way better to have a unique reply other than “FINE” as most people answer. Kelly then explains the powerful impact your answer has on other people. It’s truly an exchange of energy. And when you answer in a nontraditional way with energy, it has a very positive effect on other people. John also points out that what you say out loud has 10 times the impact of what you think. And this is based on a Harvard study.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 56I Don’t Have the Time (Encore)
Too often Up Your Success programs require a couple of hours a day to start. Be it for journaling, meditation, or whatever their method is, you don’t have that much free time.Join John and Kelly as they discuss the three components of time; quantity, efficiency, and scarcity. Listen as they discuss the impact that just 12 minutes a day had on their lives once they created the clarity they needed to move forward.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. After spending 20 years as an entrepreneur, John was 50 years old but wasn’t as successful as he thought he should be. To rectify that, he decided to find the “top book in the world” on SUCCESS and apply that book literally Word for Word to his life. That Book is Think & Grow Rich. The book says there’s a SECRET for success, but the author only gives you half the secret. John figured out the full secret and a 12 minute a day technique to apply it.When John applied his 12 minute a day technique to his life, he saw his yearly income go to over $5 million a year, after 20 years of $200k - 300k per year. The 25 times increase happened because John LEVERAGED himself by applying science to his life. His daily technique works because it focuses you ONLY on what moves the needle, triples your discipline, and consistently generates new business ideas every week. This happens because of 3 key aspects of the leveraging process.John’s technique was profiled on the cover of Time Magazine. S1 Ep 55The Opportunity: 95% Of Your Thoughts Are Unconscious
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss the concept that 95% of your thoughts are unconscious. And that is actually a huge opportunity. Your success in life as well as your enjoyment of life comes down to the thoughts that are going on in your head most the time. But why is that. Why do your thoughts determine your success. It’s because your thoughts determine each action. And your actions create success in your career, in your marriage, and in controlling your health. But here’s the opportunity. 95% of your daily thoughts are unconscious. And that’s actually a good thing. Because if they were conscious, you’d have to spend all your time consciously trying to control your thoughts. You wouldn’t have time for anything else. But the fact that they are UNCONSCIOUS is the opportunity. To control your thoughts you simply have to influence the mechanism that is generating your thoughts. Your subconscious mind, and your autopilot. You do that by repetition. Feeding to yourself each morning the succinct articulation of your life. Exactly the person you want to be, exactly what you want to accomplish, and precisely how you’re going to achieve your clearly defined goals. Takes 12 minutes a day. If you do that, you gain control of your thoughts and your success in life. As to credibility, you’re applying the central concept of the top book in the world on success to your life. Think and grow Rich. After John and Kelly cover all this, then they get into showing the audience examples of the different thoughts one has control of. Relative to their career, to their romantic relationship, to controlling their health. The take away is the fact that 95% your thoughts are unconscious is truly the opportunity for controlling your thoughts. By simply influencing the mechanism that is generating your thoughts, your subconscious mind. And you do that through repetition .About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 54Are You In The 2%?
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss the concept of the 2% versus the 98%. In John’s opinion, 98% of people are sheep. They follow the crowd. And that’s what creates the average life. Which isn’t pretty today in the United States. John gives the example of think it be it being only for the 2%. Because only 2% of people consider more success a necessity rather than merely a preference. Most people want to be more successful but it’s merely a preference. They won’t do the things required to actually be more successful. It also comes down to embracing playing the game life at your full potential. Something only 2% of people aspire to do. Kelly explains that so much of it comes down to your identity. Who you see yourself being. Appreciating that success is something you attract by the attributes you create in yourself. And John points out that that is the essence of the think it be it methodology. By getting clarity on the attributes that you want and feeding those attributes to yourself each day, that’s who you actually become. Think it be it gives you the ability to create the life you want. S1 Ep 53What It Means To Do Your Best (Encore)
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about what it means to do your best. John explains that in his 40s, doing his best meant getting up it 5:30 AM. When he got into his 50s, he expanded his vision of doing his best. It was three things. Effort – getting up at 5:30 AM. Second, focus on what moves the needle. And then third, personal growth. With a system. And making sure the growth was consistent and strategic relative to what he wanted to accomplish.Kelly talks about what doing her best means to her. She said it’s showing up as the best version of yourself. Always doing the right thing. John then mentioned that in the last year or so he’s added two more things to his prior list of three things regarding doing his best. The adds were tuning into reality and being self-aware. John and Kelly both talked about the value of getting perspective. Doing so by setting aside time to think two times a week. Deep think using the technique they’ve developed. They also explain the one thing that once they learned it, both their lives were changed. Realizing that their daily actions determine their success yet they don’t control their daily actions. Only their intentions. But you can control your daily actions by rewiring your autopilot. That’s what their 12 minute day technique is all about. To wrap up, John and Kelly gave listeners how to do their best using their 12 minute day technique or the lite version of how to influence the subconscious mind. Using reminders.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. After spending 20 years as an entrepreneur, John was 50 years old but wasn’t as successful as he thought he should be. S1 Ep 51The Benefits Of Aging (Encore)
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the benefits of aging. As Kelly is about to turn 50 in a couple months, she has spent a lot of time thinking about aging. And she really likes the wisdom that comes from aging. The increase confidence. Caring less what other people think. Then John discusses the fact that aging gives you perspective. He says that the older you get, the more you realize that most things don’t matter. Only a few things matter. John shared the observation in his own life that he sees cases of where he is evolving. He mentioned that when he was in his early 50s and met his wife Ginger, she commented on the fact that every once while he would throw F bombs around. John didn’t like that part of himself because that’s now how he was raised. Wasn’t very classy. So he immediately fixed it because it didn’t serve him. He also a few years later observed that sometimes he would get mad out loud. Oftentimes it was around technology. But he realized that what you say out loud is 10 times more powerful than what you think. He was only feeding the anger by venting out loud. So he stopped it. The lesson is that as you get older, you see ways to improve yourself and often times you do. John also mentioned that as he gets older, he gets more and more grateful. He also said that one of the latest things he’s begun doing is each evening after getting on the treadmill, he takes about 30 minutes and just writes down what he’s observing in life. He says it’s powerful when you can articulate what your observing rather than just thinking what you’re observing.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 50The Art Of Living
In this episode, John and Kelly discuss the art of living. There really is an art to living this precious life we’re all blessed with. In this podcast John talks about the four components of the art of living. First is dealing with problems. Unenlightened people, incompetent people, and difficult people. The second component is savoring the good. There’s so much good in life but we oftentimes don’t savor it as much as we should. We need to savor our friendships, savor the impact we’re having on other people in the world. Even savoring the pleasures of life like food. Then the third component is evolving mentally. Over one’s life, you will continually evolve mentally. That should never stop. There’s always got to be something you’re striving for, to evolve mentally. That’s what keeps you alive. Then the fourth component of the art of living. Having a great marriage. There sure is an art to that. John talks about the idea of appreciating that your partner has different genetics and life experience than you do. Inevitably they see things differently. Have a great marriage, you have to navigate that. As John and Kelly wrap this episode up, they point out that because 95% of the person’s daily actions are unconscious, the art of living comes down to influencing the subconscious mind. S1 Ep 48You Have To Hear Something Seven Times
In this episode, John introduces the idea that you have to hear something seven times BEFORE it fully registers. This issue has come up because John relates to Kelly a situation with a couple of new clients for think it be it. John explains that the most significant thing ever learned in his life was that 95% of his daily actions and thoughts are unconscious. That was so significant because from reading think and grow Rich, he realized that his daily actions determine his success in each area of his life. Therefore if 95% of his daily actions are unconscious, if he’s not controlling his unconscious daily actions, he’s playing the game of life at 25% of his potential. John was mystified as to why people couldn’t repeat that back to him once he explained that to them. John’s assumption was that they have to hear it seven times before it really registers. Kelly gives some great insight into this. It may be that people just aren’t ready to hear the message. And some people never will hear the message because they don’t have a growth mindset. They’re not open to new ideas. Towards the end of the podcast John talks about a new client who after a few times of John saying it to her started repeating it back to him in emails. Mission accomplished.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. After spending 20 years as an entrepreneur, John was 50 years old but wasn’t as successful as he thought he should be. S1 Ep 47Morning Routine (Encore)
In this episode John and Kelly talk about the importance of one’s morning routine. In fact, John says that a person’s morning routine will determine their success in life. That one thing more than anything else. And he talks about the think it be it 12 minute a day technique. John and Kelly’s morning routine is simply applying the 12 minute a day technique to their respective lives. Reading the succinct articulation of their life from the life GPS template each day. John talks about how simple the concept is. Step one is you create immense clarity about your life. Exactly the person you want to be, exactly what you want to accomplish, and precisely how you can achieve your clearly defined goals. Then step two is feed that clarity to yourself each day – using the think it be it template. That’s what makes everything succinct so it only takes 12 minutes a day to read. And then the third step. After 21 days of feeding that clarity to yourself each day, it then influences your daily thoughts and actions. And those upgraded daily actions then create the life you want. Powerfully simple. John and Kelly laugh about why people can’t get what seems to be so profoundly simple.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 46Things I wish I Knew About Success When I Came Out Of College with Jeffrey Gitomer
EIn this episode, John introduces a special guest - the legendary Jeffrey Gitomer. Jeffrey is in the speaker’s Hall of Fame and is the king of sales. Literally the king of sales. The most prolific and respected authority on selling in the United States today. John met Jeffrey when he was 41 years old. And Jeffrey gave John some great advice. Turn your car into a mobile University. Unfortunately, John didn’t immediately figure out how to do that. But a few years later, he did. By creating a system for personal growth. During this conversation between John and Jeffrey, they go over the things I wish I knew about success when I came out of college. John starts off the discussion saying the thing he wished he had known is how most people that you are competing against are not that sharp. Most people are not very organized, don’t grow intellectually, don’t set aside time to think on a weekly basis. Don’t impact their mindset – and live with a negative inner voice. And don’t control their daily actions, 95% of which are unconscious. These are all things that are taught in the think it be it methodology. John points out that when you do these things and other people don’t, you’re at a tremendous advantage in life over your competition. Later in the discussion John asked Jeffrey why he’s been successful. And then John articulates his observations about why Jeffrey has been successful. About the Guest:Jeffrey Gitomer is known as the King of Sales. For the past 25 years, he helped shape the concept, the voice, and the implementation of the new sale.Jeffrey is the author of 17 best selling books. Most of his books have also been number one best sellers on NY Times and Wall Street Journal along with Amazon.com. Jeffrey's books have appeared on major best-seller lists more than 500 times and have sold millions of copies worldwide.Jeffrey has delivered more than 2,500 customized and personalized seminars and keynotes all over the world. What are the goals for your next conference? Jeffery will exceed your expected outcome. From Fortune 500 companies, to companies trying to earn a fortune, Jeffrey have traveled the globe helping sales teams get better at discovering buying motives. S1 Ep 45You’re Just Winging Life
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the concept of having a defined way of doing life. John opens the podcast with two questions for the audience. First, what percentage of your potential do you think you’re playing the game a life at today? Then the second question. Do you have a way of doing life? And John points out that if you don’t, as most people don’t, you’re just winging life. And the effect of that is that you live your life fear-based and reactive in light of the fact that we are all innately wired for survival. The way better way of doing life is to wire yourself for success. By rewiring your autopilot. This is based on the concept that 95% your daily thoughts and actions are unconscious, which is the foundation of think it be it. During this podcast John and Kelly also talk about the power of having a system. Think it be it is a system for doing life. And within that system, there are other systems like for being organized and for personal growth. The end result of the think it be it system, which is truly a success formula, is it gives a person and an edge in life. An advantage. And you need an edge in life otherwise you get the average life. S1 Ep 44Your Inner World Determines Your Outer World (Encore)
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about how a person’s inner world determines their outer world. This topic was inspired by John listening to Tony Robbins on the impact theory podcast. In this episode John mentions that you live up or down to your identity. Most people create their identity by default. And one’s identity is determined by the stories you tell yourself. Kelly mentions that this is so closely aligned to what think it be it is all about. Which is you create your identity first on paper. Exactly the person you want to be, exactly what you want to accomplish, and precisely how you achieve your clearly defined goals. Then you feed that identity to yourself 12 minutes a day, using the think it be it template. After approximate 30 days, your subconscious mind accepts that identity and then your subconscious mind begins influencing your unconscious daily thoughts and actions automatically without thinking. Then those upgraded daily actions create the life you want. Powerfully simple. It relates back to exactly what Tony Robbins was talking about. You either live up or down to your identity. Way better to create the identity you want rather than having it created by default. John also talks about how in your identity you need a compelling future. You gotta be telling yourself a story that is a compelling future. To wrap up this episode John explains that today with AI it is projected that lots of people in the 2030s will have a chip implanted in their head to access the Internet solely from the thoughts. But it’s noted that today, there is a bifurcation in society. Between the people that have control over themselves, and the people that don’t. And most people don’t have control over themselves. But what advantage for those that do. Think it be it is the methodology by which a person gains control over themselves.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 43Becoming More Enlightened – How It Happens
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the concept of becoming more enlightened intellectually. John explains that when he looks back on his life, he sees that enlightenment came from learning things from other people. As an example, one of the first things he learned about life was from his dad. His dad was very hard-working. So John embraced the idea of being hard-working. Then when John was 19, he read the book psycho Cybernetics. Had a big impact on his self-image. Then when John was 27, he discovered his unique talent. He could take the complex and make it simple. He learned this from one of his CPA clients. Then John goes on to tell a story about when he was 41. Met with a gentleman by the name of Jeffrey Gittomer. Jeffrey taught John the power of learning from other people. And turning his car into a mobile university. Then at 50, John’s life was transformed by reading the book think and grow Rich. And appreciating that 95% of a person’s daily actions are unconscious. Understanding that one thing transformed his life. Then Kelly went through her life thinking about incidences where her life was changed from learning from other people. The take away from all this is that your level of enlightenment has progressed from learning from other people. But to really do that effectively, you can’t just have the intention to do that. Rather, you have to create an actual SYSTEM. And when you create such a system, then you articulate that system in your 12 minute a day visualization. About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. After spending 20 years as an entrepreneur, John was 50 years old but wasn’t as successful as he thought he should be. S1 Ep 42The Perfect Mindset
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the concept of the perfect mindset. John is teaching one of the stars of the University of Texas basketball team think it be it. And he is creating the athlete’s perfect mindset. But this applies to anyone as well. And here are the components of the perfect mindset. First, do your best. And defined in detail what that is. Secondly embrace and enjoy the process. You become great from repetition and hard work. Third, be your biggest supporter. With the attitude that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Fourth, learn from your mistakes and setbacks and treat everything as feedback. Fifth when you’re playing your sport, be in the moment, trust your training. Six, have a higher gear. In crunch time, you need to go to a higher level mentally. And seventh, understand how the human mind works. And appreciate that 95% your daily actions and thoughts are unconscious. Therefore if you’re not controlling those unconscious daily actions, you’re playing the game of life at 10% – 20% of your potential. As the conversation went on, Kelly had some great additions. You always want to be a grower, who is constantly evolving. You want to also define what moves the needle and focus on that. And you want to be someone who emits a positive energy. And as you can see, this perfect mindset would apply to anyone as well as an athlete. About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 41Success Is Something You Attract, Not Chase
S1 Ep 40The Art Of Listening
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the concept of listening. The art of understanding before making the effort to be understood. Recently John interviewed the athletic director at the University of Texas for his weekly program for the 18 head coaches in the athletic department. The athletic director’s big message was that he was refining the art of really listening. It’s interesting because as the athletic director, usually he’s in the position of telling people what to do. But he has realized that to get his message across, he’s got to convey to his audience that he listens to them. And that they feel heard. Then John posed the question to Kelly. She in a similar position to the athletic director. As the CEO of her company, she’s got a message to convey. But she also has to listen. Kelly had some great insights on this. She says it’s so important to make people feel seen and understood. Once that happens, they listen to her message. And to conclude the episode John and Kelly talk about how the think it be it 12 minute day methodology causes them to be better listeners. To try to understand before we try to be understood. S1 Ep 39Patience With Other People
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the idea that people can frustrate you. This episode John explains something that happened in the state of Texas recently that really frustrated him. The state legislature impeached the Atty. Gen. But in the trial, he was acquitted. Despite the evidence being overwhelming that he was corrupt. John talks about how the level of enlightenment of some people can be so frustrating. John mentions that everyone is a function of their genetics coupled with what has come into their consciousness. Those two factors determine one’s enlightenment. John also mentions that one’s enlightenment ultimately determines one’s success in life. Essentially that we get what we deserve. Kelly talks about how critical it is to seek to understand before trying to be understood. During the episode John and Kelly also talk about the importance of growing intellectually. Making sure that growth is strategic relative to what you want to accomplish.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 38There Is A Human Energy Crisis – Caused By Negative Self Talk And Self Inflicted Stress
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the idea that there is a human energy crisis. Created by negative self talk and self-inflicted stress. This topic comes from the best-selling author Jon Gordon. Who is the Godfather of positivity and has an organization called Positivity U. As the mental coach for the University of Texas 18 head coaches, John shared this content from Jon Gordon with them. And one of the things that Jon Gordon said that was powerful was that people need to evaluate their thoughts. And examine if their thoughts are true or not true. Often times negative thoughts are not true. And Gordon has a great line. You don’t hang out with liars, so don’t let lies hang out in your head. That’s powerful. But during the conversation, John pointed out something that in his opinion the entire mindset industry misses. So many people in the mindset field have this strategy or that strategy. Just like evaluating whether your thoughts are true or not three true. But they’re missing a very fundamental point. 95% of a person’s daily thoughts and actions are unconscious. And you can only influence the unconscious with repetition. It doesn’t care about logic. And the point of sharing this is that when you tell people to have this strategy or that strategy, inevitably it goes in one ear and out the other. All you’re affecting is his or her intention. The only thing that will actually work is rewiring one’s autopilot with repetition. So if you want to evaluate your thoughts as to whether they are true or not, you’ve got to feed that to your subconscious on a daily basis. Only that repetition will drive it home. Otherwise, in one ear and out the other. To finish up this episode John and Kelly point out that the life you experience and the success you have is determined by the ongoing thoughts going on in your head. And the irony of human nature is that only 2% of people do anything to impact their mindset. And that’s John and Kelly’s mission to overcome that dichotomy.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 37Find The Emotional Hook – The Key To Marketing (Encore)
In this episode John and Kelly talk about how important it is in marketing to identify the emotional hook with your customers. This is absolutely the most important thing you must do in marketing. Everything flows from there. Kelly talks about recently getting a big client. She discusses the emotional hook that landed the whale. John then talks about the emotional hook with regards to Think it Be it. He first asked people if they are a high achiever. This positions the customer for what’s to follow. Then he explains that most people are playing the game of life at 10% – 20% of their potential. For someone that has self identified as a high achiever, that’s a big problem. That’s the emotional hook. And this illustrates something else is important. Really understanding your target customer. Kelly was able to influence her new client by being blunt and asking questions rather than doing a lot of talking. And from those questions, she fed the new client the emotional hook. As John and Kelly wrap up this episode, John talks about how to make this idea of focusing on the emotional hook with customers using the TIBI 12 minute day technique.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 36Life Is A State Of Mind
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the idea that life is a state of mind. Therefore it’s critical to influence one’s mindset in one’s morning routine. In this episode John walks us through the various aspects of life. Your health – and how that is a state of mind regarding exercise, eating right, and sleep. How your marriage is a state of mind. Being flexible, patient, and thoughtful to your spouse. And making them feel loved and appreciated. Then career is discussed. John and Kelly pointed out that the entrepreneur is the biggest factor in any business. The business is a reflection of what’s going on in the entrepreneur mind. More specifically the owner’s understanding what moves the needle. Also understanding their unique strategy for success. As well as the linchpin issue to go to the next level. During this podcast the question is posed as to whether people are thinking about their mindset. Kelly points out that the vast majority of people are just getting up and doing life. Not even thinking about their mindset. Only 2% of people do that. At the end of the podcast John points out the ideal morning routine to impact one’s success in life. It takes 12 minutes a day. Feeding the succinct articulation of your life to yourself each day.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 35Key Things To Know To Be An Entrepreneur
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about the key things you must know in order to be a successful entrepreneur. John explained that the first thing you have to do is buckle up emotionally. Have the attitude that nobody screws me and I don’t screw anybody else. John learned this the hard way at 30 when he was launching as an entrepreneur. Some guys he was in partnership with took John’s idea and screwed him. Fortunately, John rebounded quickly and was better for learning that lesson. But the Takeaway is you have to be hard-nosed. Then Kelly talks about the traits required to be an entrepreneur. You have to be driven. Which only about 10% of people are. You also can’t take no for an answer.Later in the podcast John talks about the skills and habits to be a successful entrepreneur. Starting with embracing the idea of being a marketing expert yourself. Most people that own businesses turn that side of the business over to 3rd party marketing company. Big mistake. While it makes sense to have someone that helps you execute the strategy, the entrepreneur absolutely positively has to be involved in the marketing in order for the company to be successful. Lots of entrepreneurs miss this. Kelly then goes on to say that a key part of being successful is constantly growing. Learning from the expertise of others. Bringing into your head the wisdom of marketing, of employee empowerment, of organization and other critical things required to be a successful entrepreneur. And John explains that you have a system of personal growth that makes it consistent every week. About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 34How The Human Mind Works
In this episode John and Kelly talk about how the human mind works. John mentioned that is surprising how many people saw their life around once they understood how the human mind works. As an example, Tom Billeau of impact theory attributes his massive success to learning how the human mind works. So does Tony Robbins. As does both John and Kelly. Interesting how many people say that. And in this episode John points out that he can explain how the human mind works in under three minutes. And then over an additional two minutes he can explain how to take that information and apply it so that you can create the exceptional life. During this podcast John and Kelly discussed the fact that only about 2% of people do anything to materially impact their mindset. And that 2% is also the 2% that is the most successful. There is a correlation.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. He teaches it at the University of Texas’ McCombs School of Business, which is one the TOP 5 business schools in the country. S1 Ep 32What Does Doing Your Best Mean
In this episode John and Kelly talk about the concept of doing your best. In this episode you learn that when John was 40 years old, he started focusing on doing his best because he saw that was the only thing he really controlled. But his understanding of doing his best was simply getting up early each day – 5:30 AM. But once he got into his 50s, his understanding of doing his best greatly expanded. To essentially five things. Effort (getting up early), continually growing and learning consistently each week in an area that was strategic relative to what he wanted to accomplish. Also defining the two or three things that move the needle. Also being self-aware. And the fifth one was tuning into reality – what is reality telling him. What a difference in results John saw by having that expanded understanding of what doing his best really meant. As Kelly dove into this topic, at about the age of 40 she became more focused on defining what doing her best meant. For her, it came down to establishing immense clarity. Exactly the person she wanted to be, exactly what you want to accomplish, and precisely how she was going to achieve your clearly defined goals. So clarity was the key to doing her best. At the end of the podcast John explains how to apply the concept of doing one’s best to the think it be a 12 minute day technique. In your template, you simply define what doing your best is. When you read that each day, it gets wired in your autopilot. About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 29Gaining More Time – A Better Daily And Weekly To Do System (Encore)
In this episode John and Kelly talk about how important it is to be organized if you’re a high achiever. John and Kelly have developed an organizational system (daily to do form and weekly to do form) that they think is great. There’s three components to the system. You plan your day the night before, you time block your day, and you identify your top three priorities each day. The key is to have a great system. Using their daily to do form, the template lines out each day by every half hour. To do’s are scheduled at a specific time. Then a person identifies their top three priorities for the day and highlights those priorities on the form. John and Kelly also talk about the weekly form – which has six or seven categories that are customized to each person. During the podcast John and Kelly also talk about the importance of making the morning all about your agenda and the afternoon for being responsive to other people. The afternoon is when you return phone calls and as well as emails. And at the end of the podcast they talk about how their organizational system is reinforced in the think it be it 12 minute day technique.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 27Your Self Talk Drives Your Emotions Which Drive Your Actions
In this episode John and Kelly talk about the impact of self talk. John recently got back from visiting in person with the mental coach for the USC football team. His name is Tim Kight. He’s probably the top sports psychologist in the country. In our last episode John explained one of Tim Kight’s concepts. That an event happens, then there’s a four step process. First you focus on the event, or a part of the event. Then self talk is generated. Then emotion is felt. And then an action is taken. John shares a recent situation where he saw the four components play out in his life. Then Kelly talks about when she turned 50. And how that event generated self talk, which then generated emotions which then generated action. Understanding this formula is so beneficial as things happen in life. It also shows the power of the proper self talk and how you can refine self talk. As this podcast winds up, John and Kelly both talked about how things work out for the best in life. Sometimes your disappointed with things. You want a certain outcome and it doesn’t happen. But both John and Kelly have discovered over time that things tend to work out for the best. You may not understand it at the moment, but there seems to be a guiding force in life that makes things work out for the best. About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 26How The Human Mind Works
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about how the human mind works. John recently got back from visiting in person with the mental coach for the USC football team. His name is Tim Kight. He’s probably the top sports psychologist in the country. In his first year at USC he turned them around from four and eight the prior year to 11 and three. John talks about how the human mind works. And said that today there is a bifurcation in society. Between people that have control over themselves and those that don’t. And as proof of that, John outlines what the average life looks like in America today. 67% of people don’t have $400 to the name. Two thirds of people are either obese or seriously overweight. And only 35% of people, according to Gallup, are happy. And only one in 10 people has a great romantic relationship. If you really think about it, all that’s a function of control over oneself. In this podcast John and Kelly note that there are two things everyone has to overcome. First, everyone is innately wired for survival. And that causes the vast majority of your thoughts to be fear-based and you’re reactive. Second thing everyone must overcome is that 95% of a person’s daily actions are unconscious. And that’s significant because one’s daily actions determine your success in life. Additionally John explains how the human mind works. Conscious mind sets your intention and is influenced by logic. Subconscious mind controls your everyday actions and is influenced only by repetition. Here’s an example. Let’s say you want to lose weight. Conscious mind sets the intention to lose weight based on the logic of the health benefits. But the reason people don’t lose weight is not from lack of intention. Rather, it’s from not influencing the part of their brain that controls your daily actions. Your subconscious mind. And the subconscious mind is only influenced by repetition. And that’s why the think it be a 12 minute a day technique is so powerful. As you feed the succinct articulation of your life to yourself each day. That’s the repetition you need to create the desired consistent daily actions. During this podcast John then explains what he learned from Tim Kight, the USC mental coach. He says that once an event happens, some occurrence, the first thing a person does is focus on it. Become aware of it. That’s followed by self talk. Which then creates emotion. And then the emotion creates action. Tim has a powerful formula: E+R=O. Event plus response equals outcome. Your response to events in life determines your success in life. About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. After spending 20 years as an entrepreneur, John was 50 years old but wasn’t as successful as he thought he should be. S1 Ep 25Your Inner World Determines Your Outer World
In this episode, John and Kelly talk about how a person’s inner world determines their outer world. S1 Ep 24How To Have A Great Marriage
In this episode John talked about how to have a great marriage. The Einstein of marriage in the United States is John and Julie Gottman. Based on their extensive research, they truly are the top in their field of marriage and relationships. Based on their research, we all have unconscious tripwires from childhood wounds. It is critical that you know your spouse’s childhood wounds as well as your own. When you understand these, your relationship goes to a deeper level. John also mentions that you have to have deep conversations with your spouse. That’s the path to a better relationship. As John and discuss the matter further, they mentioned the idea of repair. When you have a disagreement or fight with your spouse, each spouse should be aware of the concept of repair. Which means after reflection, quickly coming back to your spouse so you can repair a problem. Get you back on track after tension. The people that understand this concept and practice it have good relationships. As this podcast wrapped up John mentioned that the Gottman’s have a new book around the idea of having eight dates to improve your relationship. Before each date, you prepare for a specific topic. Kelly and John are going to test this out with their respective spouses.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 23Stories We Tell Ourselves – Impact Our Behaviors
In this episode John and Kelly talk about the stories we tell ourselves impact our behaviors. These stories are always playing in the background in the subconscious mind. And they drive our behaviors as well as our fears. Oftentimes we need to take a hard look at these stories and see if they are serving us. Often they are not. So you need to go back and look at what actually happened in each story and then may be reinterpret the Takeaway. When you do that, the story changes and it affects your behaviors. John talks about the power of the think it be it methodology. Where you are thinking two times a week, deep thinking. But also doing it in conjunction with another habit. Reading your daily visualization. The combination is powerful. The thinking allows you to identify your stories and maybe reinterpret your stories. Then once they are reinterpreted, you can reprogram yourself with your daily visualization. It’s a powerful combination.About the Hosts:John MitchellJohn’s story is pretty amazing. S1 Ep 22The Movie ‘Book Club’ – The Perils Of Aging
In this episode John talked about recently watching the movie “The Book Club”. It stars Jane Fonda, Candace Bergen, Diane Keaton and Mary Steembergen. It’s about four women who are in their 60s and 70s. The romantic and sexual side of their life has dried up. But then they read the book 50 shades of gray. It re-energizes the sensual side of each one of them. When John watched this movie, he watched it through the lens of Think It Be It. The reason each of the women have lost the romantic/intimacy side of their life is because they have nothing in their life that pulled their lives forward. Like a daily visualization. They were letting themselves be innately wired for survival and doing nothing about it. The effect was as each got older, their lives were contracting. Getting smaller. They become more fear-based. More focused on the limitations than the possibilities. The net effect is it made both John and Kelly appreciate the profound value of having a daily visualization where you articulate exactly the person you want to be, exactly what you want to accomplish, and precisely how you can achieve your clearly defined goals. That’s how you create the desired life you want in the future. And that daily visualization pulls your thoughts forward. Which then creates the actions which creates the life you want.
