Sometimes oil and gas wells or leases are sold to another company and if you have a royalty interest in the wells, you end up getting royalty checks from the new operator once the sale goes through. This is a time in royalty ownership where you need to be on top of your game to make sure the transition goes smoothly so you get paid what you deserve.
