Show Notes

In the nine months since September, the number of families in emergency housing has dropped by 57%, from 3100 to 1300.

According to Ministry of Social Development, this creates a saving of half a million dollars every day.

Associate Housing Minister Tama Potaka tells Mike Hosking the change has been achieved by ensuring all avenues are explored before placing people into emergency housing.
