Show Notes
Workforce issues are resulting in fewer people accessing specialist mental health services.
A Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission report shows more people are receiving community-based care.
But access to specialist services dropped from 3.8% of people in 2018 and 19 to 3.4% in 2022 and 23.
Board chair Hayden Wano told Mike Hosking that workforce impacts are across the whole sector.
He says community providers and GPs are finding there's a higher threshold for their patients to be referred to specialist services.
