The new Government has taken the first steps to ensure prisoners on remand can access rehab and reintegration support, promised as part of it’s 100 day plan.
Corrections Association President Floyd Du Plessis tells Mike Hosking the current system doesn’t work and the demand for rehabilitation will be big.
Currently, Corrections are delivering up to 100 different types of programmes. Du Plessis wants to see better consideration around vocational training and says an increase in or change of resources is needed.
