Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Michigan Weather Podcast. It's Wednesday, February 25th. And that clipper system left us a little parting gift overnight.
Three tenths of an inch of fresh snow. Doesn't sound like much.. But it's enough to make your morning commute interesting. Folks, take it slow out there.
Now let's talk about what you're walking into. Up north, lake effect snow bands are already cranking. Snow showers likely from 5 A.M. through noon, peaking around 5 A.M. with about an inch possible. Highs hit 24 degrees early around 5 A.M., then temperatures slide backward to 12 by 5 A.M. Winds shift west to northwest around 6 A.M., gusting to 15 miles an hour by 7 A.M. By noon, the thermometer reads 18 but it feels like 10 degrees. That's the kind of cold that bites through your gloves.
Swing over to West Michigan. A slight chance of snow showers before 7 A.M., then you're in the clear. High of 28 degrees around 6 A.M., falling to 18 by 4 A.M. Feels like 12 degrees around 9 A.M. with temps sitting at 24.
Down in Southeast Michigan, you're the lucky ones today. Dry skies all day. High of 35 degrees around 10 A.M., dropping to 20 by 3 A.M. tonight. Gusts to 16 miles an hour around noon give it some bite.
Tonight's lows are no joke. Northern Michigan drops to 10 degrees. West Michigan falls to 16. Southeast settles near 19.
The week ahead tells a wild story. Thursday brings sunshine and low 30s. Then Friday.. Highs push near 50 degrees. Your jacket stays in the car. But don't get comfortable. Saturday a cold front rolls through with snow chances. And Sunday into Monday we crash back to the 20s. Classic Michigan whiplash.
I'll be tracking that Friday warmup and Saturday flip all week. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
