Show Notes

Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Michigan Weather Podcast. It's Sunday, February 22nd. Folks, if you stepped outside this morning, you already know. Fresh snow on the ground, light flakes still drifting down. And winter reminding us it's got plenty left in the tank. Right now in Southeast Michigan, you're sitting around 34 degrees. That's the high for today, peaking near 3 P.M. Light snow keeps falling through 6 A.M. Monday, dropping another inch or two. Northwest winds at 6 to 10 miles an hour keep things sharp. By Monday morning? Down to 25 degrees. Cruise over to the lakeshore and West Michigan is getting the rougher deal. Highs only hit 30 degrees around noon, then drop fast. Snow showers stick around through 11 P.M. Wind gusts punch up to 28 miles an hour. By 8 A.M. Monday, the thermometer reads 19 but your face says 6 degrees. That's the kind of cold that finds every zipper gap. Push north toward Marquette and you're in full winter wonderland mode. Highs struggle to reach 29 degrees by noon. Winds flip from northwest to north around 1 P.M. Monday morning? Feels like minus 9 degrees. Highs Monday barely crack the teens. Winter weather advisories are active across parts of Northern Michigan and the southwest corner. Roads are slick and visibility drops fast. If you're driving, slow way down. Looking at the week ahead, Tuesday's the main event. A clipper system sweeps through with widespread snow. Southeast Michigan picks up 1 to 3 inches. Northern Michigan could see 2 to 4, especially near Marquette. After that? Things quiet down. Skies stay cloudy but temperatures start climbing. By Friday, West Michigan touches 44 degrees. Northern Michigan flirts with 40. Almost feels like progress. But Saturday night crashes back to 24 degrees with snow showers. Classic. One bright spot. We gained nearly 3 minutes of daylight today. Winter's grip is loosening, even if it doesn't feel like it yet. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
