Show Notes

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Michigan Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th, and folks, Mother Nature is playing favorites today. Northern Michigan is getting snow. The rest of us? Just clouds and a chill. Here's the deal. Up north, you're sitting at 33 degrees with snow likely through the afternoon. Winds stay light out of the northwest, but visibility could get tricky fast. If you're heading toward Traverse City or Gaylord, slow down and give yourself extra time. Now drive south into West Michigan. Grand Rapids wakes up to 35 degrees. Cloudy, dry, breezy. Nothing dramatic. Keep heading southeast toward Detroit and you'll find the warm spot. 40 degrees with gusts around 12 miles an hour. That's practically spring by February standards. Tonight, the snow tapers off up north. Lows settle into the upper 20s. West and Southeast Michigan stay dry, dropping into the mid 30s. Your Sunday morning coffee won't require a parka. Just a solid jacket. Tomorrow the clouds hang around, but the snow moves out. Highs nudge up a touch. 36 degrees up north, 38 in West Michigan, 42 in the southeast. Northwest winds bring drier air. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Sunday and Monday stay dry statewide. Temperatures hold steady through midweek, then a warming trend rolls in by Thursday. You'll want to enjoy that. Highs climb back into the 40s across the board. That's right where late February should be. One thing that'll brighten your morning. We're gaining almost 3 minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:32 A.M., sunset at 5:20 P.M. The light is coming back, and you can feel it. So. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a friend. It helps more folks find us. Bundle up if you're heading out. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
