Good afternoon. Michigan. I'm Aaron Jolly.
That Canadian high pressure system sliding in behind yesterday's dusting? It's the boss today. Clear skies, cold air. and that crisp winter bite that makes your nose hairs freeze on contact.
In the next 24 hours. Southeast Michigan is sitting at 30 degrees right now under blue skies. Winds out of the north at 6 to 9 miles an hour make it feel sharper than that. Tonight you drop to 19 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Slide west toward Grand Rapids and you're at 32 degrees. Gorgeous sunshine. but tonight? That's the cold spot. 17 degrees under mostly clear skies. Your car windshield will be a skating rink by morning.
Now push north. Only 22 degrees up there today, with a slight chance of lingering snow showers before 1 P.M. Tonight plummets to 11 degrees. That's the kind of cold where your dog does a speed run outside and sprints right back in.
But folks. Enjoy this last gasp of real winter. Monday, southerly winds develop and temperatures jump. Southeast Michigan climbs to 35. West Michigan surges to 42. Even up north hits 36. All under sunny skies.
Tuesday gets interesting. A storm system rolls in from the southwest. Southeast Michigan could see freezing rain early Tuesday morning before flipping to plain rain. West Michigan gets rain showers. Up north, a messy rain and snow mix.
The week ahead tells a wild story. Temperatures keep climbing. By Wednesday, upper 40s. Thursday and Friday? We're talking 50s to near 60 degrees in southern Michigan. Multiple rounds of rain ride in with that warmth. Rapid snowmelt and rising rivers become a real concern by the weekend.
Quick note. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every day now. Sunrise today at 7:15 A.M. Sunset at 6:28 P.M. Spring is whispering.
I'll be tracking that Tuesday storm system all night. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
