Show Notes

Good evening. Michigan. I'm Aaron Jolly. A massive Canadian high pressure system parked itself right over the Great Lakes today. and folks, it brought a gift nobody asked for. Bone dry air and temperatures that bite. In the next 24 hours. That 10.7 inches of fresh snow from overnight? It turned Michigan into a giant reflector. Clear skies plus fresh snow cover equals heat escaping fast. That's why thermometers bottomed out at 12 degrees before dawn. Classic radiational cooling doing its thing. Up north, today barely cracked 22 degrees. That sunshine looked gorgeous through the window, but step outside and your lungs reminded you real quick. Slide down toward Grand Rapids and Muskegon. and you touched 32. Freezing, but at least the snow wasn't squeaking underfoot. Over in Southeast Michigan. Detroit and the Thumb landed right around 30 degrees. Tonight gets quieter. and colder. Northern Michigan sinks to 10 degrees. Light winds, clear skies, no mercy. West Michigan and the southeast both settle near 17. No wind chill tricks tonight. Those numbers are the real deal. Now Monday is where the plot starts to twist. That high slides east. Warmer air sneaks back in from the south. Northern Michigan jumps to 35. West Michigan pushes 42. Southeast Michigan reaches 36. You'll actually want to open a window. But the real headline lives later this week. Tuesday morning. Southeast Michigan could see freezing rain between 8 and 9 A.M. Before flipping to plain rain. Keep that ice scraper handy. Highs climb into the 40s statewide. Then by Friday. 60s. Thirty degrees warmer than right now. The catch? Rain moves in Thursday and doesn't quit through Saturday. Thunderstorms are possible Friday. Spring equinox is 19 days out. Michigan's getting a sneak peek. Charge your phone tonight. Cold batteries are cranky batteries. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
