Tarek talks about the significance of Colombia to him, and explains why Medellin is one of his favorite cities in the world. He then talks about his homeland, Egypt, and why everyone should spend time there. Tarek then shares the story of how he met Matt’s sister at a Tibetan monastery in Nepal. He also reflects on his time in Goa, India as well as his multiple trips to Ethiopia. Tarek then takes us on his journey over the last 4 years building Nomads Giving Back, and reflects on navigating the complex power dynamics of international volunteer work. He then shares his experience in Bali, including during the pandemic, and how that led to the launching of Nomads Skillshare. Tarek then reflects on the key sustainability pillars for living a fulfilling nomadic life over the long term. And, finally, he explains why he continues to travel and what travel means to him today.
