Good morning. Maryland. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Step outside and you're greeted by 46 degrees under clear skies. That's just the opening act. We're diving into a stretch of weather running 31 degrees warmer than normal for mid-March.
Today is all sunshine. Baltimore Metro climbs to 70 degrees. Central Maryland tops out at 64. Western Maryland also hits 70. Light southwest winds keep things comfortable. Tonight stays mild, settling around 45 to 49 degrees.
Tuesday cranks up the heat even more. Baltimore Metro reaches 71 degrees. Central Maryland hits 63. But Western Maryland? Soars to 76 degrees — pushing record territory. More sunshine, light southerly breezes.
Then the bottom drops out. Wednesday stays unseasonably warm with highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s, but clouds build in the afternoon. Rain chances arrive after 8 A.M., increasing through the day. Thunderstorms are possible, especially west of the Blue Ridge.
A strong cold front barrels through Wednesday night into Thursday. Rain becomes likely, potentially heavy. Temperatures crash 31 degrees to 30 degrees. Thursday's highs struggle to reach the low 50s. Rain could mix with snow over the mountains by afternoon. Winds gust between 25 and 35 miles an hour, making it feel even colder.
Friday brings a brief break before another front arrives over the weekend. More gusty conditions and cooler temperatures persist through Sunday.
Enjoy the spring preview today and tomorrow. Winter's got one more punch left.
See you this afternoon.
