Show Notes

Good afternoon. Maryland. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you'll feel something unusual. We're sitting at 56 degrees after an overnight low of 42. That's 31 degrees above normal for early March. And folks, this warmth is just getting started. Today brings wall-to-wall sunshine across Maryland. Down in Baltimore, you're climbing to 70 degrees by late afternoon. Central Maryland tops out at 64. Out west in the mountains, you hit 70 as well. Light south winds keep things comfortable all day. Perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me. Tonight stays mild. Baltimore drops to 49 degrees under mostly clear skies. Central Maryland settles to 45. Western Maryland cools to 46. Tuesday cranks up the heat even more. Baltimore reaches 71 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Central Maryland hits 63. The mountains? A scorching 76 degrees. We're running 31 degrees above normal. And we might challenge some daily records by midweek. Tuesday and Wednesday continue the warm pattern, with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s. But that changes fast. A strong cold front barrels through Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms. Western Maryland faces the highest severe weather risk — gusty winds and heavy downpours are the main threats. Behind that front, temperatures crash 31 degrees to 30 degrees. Thursday's highs only reach the low 50s. A second cold front follows Friday into the weekend, keeping conditions blustery and cool through Sunday. The spring equinox is just 11 days away. Soak in this March warmth while it lasts. See you this evening.
