Show Notes
Good morning. Maryland. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Step outside right now and you'll feel something rare for early March. Warmth. We're sitting at 47 degrees statewide with dense fog hugging the Chesapeake Bay. That fog lifts by 8 A.M. As a cold front slides through.
Baltimore Metro climbs to 72 degrees this afternoon. That's 31 degrees above normal for March. Brief showers possible around 2 P.M., nothing heavy. Tonight drops to 47 degrees under clearing skies.
Central Maryland tops out at 67 degrees. Patchy fog clears by 7 A.M., then scattered showers through early afternoon. Tonight falls to 45 degrees.
Western Maryland hits 70 degrees, the warmest spot in the state. Just a slight rain chance mid-afternoon. Tonight cools to 44 degrees.
One heads up. Clocks spring forward tonight. You lose an hour of sleep, but gain an hour of evening daylight. Sunset tonight is at 7:07 P.M. and we're adding over two and a half minutes of daylight daily now. The long winter nights are finally loosening their grip.
Here's your week ahead. Monday brings sunshine and near 70 degrees statewide. Tuesday pushes even warmer, 72 to 75 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Wednesday climbs to the mid-70s, but clouds build as a strong cold front approaches.
That front hits Wednesday night into Thursday. And it's a big one. Rain likely, possibly heavy at times. Thunderstorms possible, especially west of the Blue Ridge. Then temperatures crash. Highs Thursday only reach the mid-50s with gusty west winds. By Friday morning. Here comes lows in the low 30s, with some mountain areas dipping below freezing.
Enjoy the warmth while it lasts.
See you this afternoon.
