Show Notes

Good evening. Maryland. I'm Aaron Jolly. Happy Saturday, folks. We picked up 2 minutes and 35 seconds of daylight today, with sunrise at 7:20 A.M. and sunset at 7:13 P.M, it feels like spring is trying to wake up. But winter isn't quite done with us yet. Step outside and you'll feel 56 degrees under overcast skies, that's mild for March. However, a dramatic weather shift is on the way. As the sun sets. Tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies statewide, lows hover around 39 degrees in Baltimore and Central Maryland. Down in Western Maryland, you'll drop a bit cooler to 36 degrees, winds remain light from the northeast. Sunday brings partly sunny skies and highs climbing into the mid-50s, baltimore tops out near 57 degrees, while Central Maryland reaches 55. Western Maryland also hits 57, however, rain moves in Sunday night. Showers begin after 8 P.M, statewide, with lows staying mild in the low 50s. Monday brings a potent weather system. Highs surge to near 68 degrees in Baltimore and 69 in Western Maryland. That warmth comes with a cost, we're expecting showers and thunderstorms. And some storms could be severe with damaging wind gusts. Monday night, the bottom falls out, temperatures crash to 31 degrees. Rain changes to snow showers before ending, tuesday stays blustery and cold. Highs only reach the upper 30s, with Western Maryland struggling to reach 35 degrees. Under mostly sunny skies, it will feel raw. Tuesday night brings the coldest stretch, with lows plummeting to the 20s and Western Maryland dropping to 22 degrees. Looking ahead. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead, while tuesday and Wednesday bring unseasonably cold air. Highs run 22 degrees below normal, expect a hard freeze Tuesday night. A warming trend begins Thursday, with highs climbing back into the 50s by Friday. The pattern looks dry and calmer for the end of the week. Grab that extra blanket tonight, you'll thank me at 3 A.M. — we'll be back with your next forecast evening. See you tomorrow.
