Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Maryland Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 23rd. Folks, grab that coffee because today Maryland can't pick a lane.
Here's the deal. Baltimore and Central Maryland are flirting with spring. Highs hit 49 degrees this afternoon with light southwest winds around 7 miles an hour. A few clouds wander through, maybe a stray shower, but nothing worth grabbing an umbrella for. Tonight you're settling into the mid 30s under partly cloudy skies. Honestly? Pretty pleasant for late February.
Now drive west on I-68 and it's a different story. Western Maryland is locked in winter's grip. Highs barely scratch 37 degrees with a steady west wind between 6 and 10 miles an hour. That's a 12 degree gap from Baltimore. Clear skies tonight mean the heat escapes fast. Lows plunge into the mid 20s out there. Bundle up if you're heading toward Deep Creek.
Here's what's coming your way this week. Saturday keeps the good vibes rolling for Baltimore and Central Maryland. Highs near 50 degrees again. Western Maryland warms a touch into the low 40s. Sunday a weak cold front slides through and knocks temps back a few degrees statewide. Early next week brings a gradual cooldown, but nothing brutal. No big storms lurking on the radar either.
One bright spot worth celebrating. Sunrise lands at 6:33 and sunset stretches to 5:18. You're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight every single day now. Air quality sits at moderate, so sensitive groups you'll want to ease up on heavy outdoor exertion.
Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your Friday, share it with a neighbor who could use a heads up.
Stay safe out there. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
