Show Notes

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Maryland Weather Podcast — it's Monday, February 23rd. You woke up to a fresh blanket of snow this morning. Maryland picked up 1.4 inches in the last 24 hours, with another third of an inch overnight. The heavy stuff has moved out, but here's the catch — black ice is hiding on untreated roads. Bridges, overpasses, shaded spots? Those are the troublemakers. Give yourself extra time this morning. Maryland is doing that thing where it can't decide if it's one state or three. Western Maryland is still getting pounded. Snow squalls through noon could drop another 3 to 6 inches in the Alleghenies. Baltimore and Central Maryland? You're transitioning to a blustery, chilly day. Snow wraps up by noon, but northwest winds at 15 to 18 miles an hour — gusting to 38 — will make it feel like 21 degrees by 5 A.M. Tomorrow. That's the kind of cold that finds every gap in your coat. This afternoon, you'll see partly cloudy skies. Baltimore hits 40 degrees around 3 P.M., then temperatures crash. Central Maryland peaks at 39 degrees, also around 3 P.M. Western Maryland? You top out at 39 degrees near 2 P.M., then plunge to 22 degrees by 5 A.M. Tonight, lows drop to 25 in Baltimore, 24 in Central Maryland, 21 out west. Wind chills near 21 degrees to 21 degrees — brutal. Here's your week ahead. Tuesday brings a break — mostly sunny, highs in the mid 30s. Then Wednesday flips the script. Temperatures jump to 50 degrees in Central Maryland while the mountains see light snow. Thursday brings rain and snow, highs near 50. Friday dries out. Saturday hits 54 degrees in Baltimore — a 30-degree swing in two days. Classic Maryland. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
