Good morning. Maryland. I'm Aaron Jolly. That crisp blue sky you're seeing right now? Don't let it fool you. A classic cold air damming setup is about to make things interesting. High pressure up near Ottawa is shoving cold air down the mountains like a wedge, while a disturbance rolls in from the Ohio Valley. Translation? We're about to get messy. In the next 24 hours. Baltimore starts at 29 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Snow develops after 9 A.M. — nothing major, less than half an inch, mostly sticking to grass. You'll hit 36 degrees by afternoon. but tonight's the real story. Snow flips to freezing rain after 3 A.M. Temps hold at 31 degrees. That's when roads get slick. Central Maryland follows the same script. Highs near 35 degrees with snow starting mid-morning. Less than half an inch expected. Tonight brings snow, patchy fog, then a wintry mix overnight. Lows dip to 31 degrees. Western Maryland takes the biggest hit. A Winter Weather Advisory runs from 10 P.M. Tonight through 1 P.M. Tuesday. Snow likely after 9 A.M. With up to an inch possible. The real problem? Freezing rain overnight — up to two-tenths of an inch of ice coating the roads. Your Tuesday morning commute could be a skating rink. Lows bottom out at 30 degrees. Tuesday, everything flips. That warm front lifts north, changing everything to plain rain. Highs climb into the mid-40s. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. We're about to see a dramatic warm-up. Today's 36 degrees? By Thursday you're near 70. That's 29 degrees to 29 degrees above normal for early March. Rain chances stick around through the weekend, but nothing severe. Spring's knocking on the door — just 18 days until the equinox. Western Maryland folks, charge your phones and take it slow Tuesday morning. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
