Good evening, folks! I'm DJ Huzz. And this is the Maine Weather Podcast for Sunday, February 22nd. Enjoy the quiet tonight.. Because a beast is heading straight for us. Blizzard warnings are up from Portland to Bar Harbor. This Nor'easter means business. Right now you're sitting at 30 degrees under gray skies. Almost peaceful. That changes fast. Snow hits the southern coast by 10 P.M. And spreads inland by dawn. Then Monday becomes a full blown war. Down along the coast, Portland takes 6 to 10 inches. The heaviest bands pound between 8 A.M. And 6 P.M. Gusts hit 50 miles an hour. Visibility drops to near zero. Your car in the driveway? Leave it there. Coastal flooding rolls in around the 1:53 P.M. High tide with 10 to 15 foot waves. Route 1 and I-95 south of Bangor could become impassable. Push Downeast and it gets worse. Six to 10 inches with blizzard conditions by 7 A.M. Wind chills in the single digits. Power outages are a real threat where gusts snap limbs. Inland toward Augusta, snow develops by 8 A.M. Four to 8 inches with gusts to 45 miles an hour. Wind chills feel like 5 degrees by midday. Bangor sees similar snow but the wind is relentless. Gusts to 46 miles an hour creating whiteout drifting. The western mountains catch a lighter 2 to 4 inches after 7 A.M. But wind chills near minus 10 make it brutal. Up in The County, snow holds off until 1 P.M. One to 3 inches total. But lows tonight drop to 2 degrees with wind chills near minus 6. That's frostbite territory. Now the week ahead tells a story. Tuesday the storm exits but leaves bitter cold behind. Single digit lows. Below zero in the mountains. Wednesday a clipper drops another 1 to 3 inches along the coast. Thursday brings a brief sunny break. Then Friday.. Another potential winter storm is already lining up. Rain and snow mix possible. Weekend temps climb to the low 40s. Almost feels tropical after this. Charge your phones tonight. Fill the gas tank. And if Monday commuting is optional, take the day. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
