Show Notes

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and you're listening to the 6 AM Maine Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 23rd. Folks, grab that coffee and breathe easy. This is one of those quiet February mornings where Maine just sits still for a minute. No drama. No surprises. Just cold air and calm skies. Step outside in Portland and you'll feel 36 degrees. Not bad at all. Light southeast winds barely ruffling the flag. Head up to Augusta and it's about the same. Bangor and the Downeast coast? Mid 30s. Comfortable enough if you're layered up. Now drive into the Western Mountains and the thermometer drops to 31 degrees. Cold enough to keep that snowpack locked in tight. Good news if you're hitting Sunday River this weekend. Up in Aroostook? A crisp 26 degrees with a gentle northeast breeze. That's the kind of morning where your nostrils stick together on the first breath. Here's the deal for tonight. Temperatures dip into the 20s statewide. Winds stay whisper quiet. Just a cold, peaceful night. Saturday brings a little warmth. Upper 30s along the coast, low 30s inland. Sunday stays dry but clouds thicken. We're watching a system that could sneak in some light snow early next week. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Monday keeps warming slightly before a quick cooldown hits midweek. No blockbuster storms on the radar. A weak system might dust the mountains Tuesday, but nothing to lose sleep over. Air quality today is moderate. Most folks won't notice, but sensitive groups should keep it in mind. One bright spot? We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every day now. Sunrise at 6:33 this morning. Sunset stretches to 5:18. Your evening commute is getting brighter, and that feels wicked good after a long winter. Alright. If this podcast helps you start your morning right, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going. I'll be back at 9 AM with your next update. Bundle up and enjoy the calm. Take care!
