Good afternoon. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Folks, we've got a serious temperature crash headed our way. A powerful arctic front is sweeping across Maine right now, effectively slamming the door on our mild air and dragging in a deep freeze from the north. You're going to feel this change fast. We're talking about a forty-degree swing in less than twenty-four hours. That's the kind of drop that makes your bones ache. In the next 24 hours. Here's the situation right now. Down in Portland, you're hitting 42 degrees under partly sunny skies. Over in Bar Harbor, expect similar warmth at 41. It feels breezy and mild out there, with southerly winds gusting near 25 miles an hour. Central Maine is seeing the last of the nice weather today. Augusta climbs to 42 degrees. Bangor tops out near 43 under mostly cloudy skies. Just keep an eye on the sky after 3 P.M., because isolated rain showers are likely to pop up in Bangor. The weather turns messy as you head north. The Western Mountains are dealing with a rain and snow mix this afternoon, with highs near 38. Up in The County, scattered snow showers are already developing. Presque Isle hits 41, but that temperature is falling fast. Tonight, the front clears the coast and the bottom drops out. Portland dips to 25 degrees. Downeast reaches 22. Bangor falls to 17. Out in The County, you're dropping all the way to 7 degrees. Sunday brings the full arctic surge. Portland only reaches 31. Bangor struggles to hit 28. The County stays near 15. Snow showers are likely in the south, while the north stays dry and bitter. Sunday night is dangerously cold. The County plummets to 6 below zero. Bangor hits minus S Two. Portland drops to 6 above. You'll want to check on your neighbors and pets tonight. Monday brings sunshine but it stays cold. Then Tuesday features a chance of snow after 1 P.M. Tuesday night, a low pressure system rides up the coast, bringing a mix of rain and snow that impacts the Wednesday morning commute. The pattern stays active through the end of the week.
