Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Folks, enjoy this morning's 19 degrees. Because it's the coldest you'll feel all day. A warm front slipped through overnight. and now southerly winds are dragging mild air straight up from the mid Atlantic. We're talking low 40s statewide. That's 11 degrees above normal for late February. In the next 24 hours. Down in Portland, you hit 41 degrees under mostly sunny skies. South winds gust to 25 miles an hour this afternoon. Augusta edges even higher, 43 degrees, with gusts pushing 30. Bangor matches that 43, though patchy fog hangs around early. The Downeast coast peaks near 40 degrees. and even The County touches 41, though gusts to 35 miles an hour make it feel rawer than the number suggests. The Western Mountains stay coolest at 38 degrees. Watch for snow showers sneaking in after 11 A.M. As moisture rides ahead of the main front. Now the plot twist. That Arctic front barrels through after sunset and temperatures crash. Portland drops to 26. Augusta falls to 21. Bangor dips to 19. Aroostook plunges to 6 degrees. Any standing water freezes solid, so watch for black ice on untreated roads. Sunday brings light snow statewide. One to two inches for Portland and central Maine. Highs only crack the upper 20s. Sunday night turns bitter. Lows near zero down south, minus 12 in Aroostook. Monday morning? Wind chills hit 20 to 25 below zero up north. Frostbite in under 30 minutes on exposed skin. Looking ahead. Monday stays frigid near 20 degrees. Tuesday warms into the mid 30s with snow arriving by evening. Wednesday flips to a rain and snow mix near 43 degrees. Another system lines up late week. Classic February roller coaster. Charge your phone, fill the tank. and get outside today while it's gorgeous. You'll miss these 40s by tomorrow morning. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
