Folks, we've got a serious situation brewing. Step outside this morning and it feels like winter. but enjoy the quiet. A classic late-February temperature crash is coming fast.
In the next 24 hours. Today, it's mostly sunny and calm. Highs reach 36 degrees in Portland. You'll see 34 degrees in Augusta. Bangor tops out near 32. Downeast hits 33. The Western Mountains see 29. The County reaches 26.
Tonight turns clear. Portland drops to 27. Augusta falls to 22. Bangor wakes up to 17. Downeast drops to 24. The mountains hit 17. The County falls to 12.
Saturday brings a quick warm-up. Portland hits 43. Augusta reaches 44. Bangor hits 44. Downeast warms to 41. The mountains see 40. The County hits 41.
But that's where the good news ends. An Arctic front slams the state Saturday night. Sunday brings snow chances statewide. Temperatures crash. Portland falls to 7 degrees overnight. Bangor drops to minus S Two. The mountains plunge to minus 8. The County hits minus 15.
Monday stays brutally cold. Highs only reach 24 in Portland. Bangor stays near 20. The mountains struggle to hit 13. The County tops out at 15. Dress warmly if you're heading out. Wind chills will be dangerous.
Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Tuesday warms slightly to the mid-30s. We stay dry through midweek. Another system brings rain and snow chances by Thursday.
