Ep 92092: Scale Up On Your Own Terms with Taylor Welch
It’s not often you get the chance to speak to a man who dreamed of being a church pastor but instead became a real estate investing mogul. It’s why I’m excited to talk to Taylor Welch, internationally acclaimed business consultant and entrepreneur. Taylor has advised and serviced over 50,000 businesses worldwide in the last five years and currently sits as CEO of several multi-8-figure companies. One of the things that I love the most about Taylor is that even amid adversity, he never compromised his mindset of learning and surrounding himself with people smarter than him. Using that mindset, he scaled his first business, Traffic & Funnels, from zero to tens of millions in just five years. No wonder he built a name for himself in hundreds of industries and is nearing three-quarters of a billion in client revenue. He’s now pulling back the curtain on how other businesses and individuals can achieve the same level of success. In this episode, we go over his journey from wanting to be a pastor to making millions in real estate, the importance of mindset for creating abundance in every aspect of life, his thoughts on the future of crypto, and so much more.Free GiftPassive Income Empire Workshop - a course valued at $1500. Ep 90090: Negotiate Like a Pro with Christine McKay
When people hear the term negotiation, they usually think of tense arguments and nerve-wracking meetings. It’s not about winning; it’s about building relationships and being curious about your counterpart.Christine is the Founder and CEO of Venn Negotiation, a company through which she turns clients into world-class negotiators. She has worked with roughly half of the Fortune 500 companies and negotiated on behalf of hundreds of small and mid-sized businesses. Before becoming a negotiation powerhouse doing billion-dollar deals, Christine had to overcome adversity. The company was acquired by CDK Global, where Chris continues his journey as Vice President and General Manager. His brother Rob Taylor is co-founder of Austin-based Convey, which was acquired for $255 million by project44. Convey powers direct-to-consumer delivery experiences for more than 2,000 of the world’s largest brands. What’s interesting is that Chris & Rob took very different startup paths, but got to very similar destinations.Chris bootstrapped and scaled a single startup over the course of 17 years and didn’t take a single dollar of outside money.Rob on the other hand, leveraged venture capital to fund 7 different startups over a 20 year period. It’s a go big, go fast strategy. Both paths have pros and cons that we dig into during today’s conversation. These guys have had major exits, and major success, and I wanted to talk to them all about their experience building, scaling, and selling businesses. We discuss entrepreneurship, acquisition deals, IPOs, bootstrapping vs. raising money, VC partnerships, and so much more. Ep 65065: Scaling Beyond a Million with Brad Weimert
Today, I'm speaking with my long-time friend, Brad Weimert. Brad is an adventurer, investor, entrepreneur, and Founder of Easy Pay Direct—a payment gateway touted as the most critical tool on the market to facilitate high-level eCommerce. What makes Brad's business so unique is how it manages what bigger processing companies (like PayPal or Stripe) would consider to be "high risk." While these merchant accounts allow you to get set up quickly, they fail to get to know your business. And the result can lead to holds on money that you legitimately earned—or even worse, closing down your account altogether without notice.Easy Pay Direct solves this problem by underwriting on the front-end and really getting to know your business and how it operates. Through that unique differentiation, Brad's company has been able to work with over 30,000 businesses and serves clients like Tony Robbins, Dean Graziosi, Hal Elrod, Grant Cardone, Frank Kern, and many others.Seeing the data behind so many companies over the years has given Brad a unique vantage point for what it takes to build a successful business. This experience led to him launching the Beyond a Million podcast—a new show that uncovers the tactics and strategies behind 7, 8, and 9 figure businesses. In today's episode, not only do we talk about Brad's entrepreneurial journey and the new podcast (launching January 20th), but we also dig into his investing experience and the most recent real-estate deal that made him a multimillion-dollar return in only 2 years. That and a whole lot more!FREE GiftFirstly, he’s giving away his free report “4 Fool Proof Tricks to NEVER Lose your Merchant Accounts!”Secondly, he’s running a giveaway for his new podcast, Beyond a Million. Ep 60060: Vanessa Peters on Investing in Land Entitlement and Making Big Returns
So many people end up going to school, choosing a career, working as hard as possible, and climbing the corporate ladder, hoping that they will one day achieve financial success. But far too often, that day never comes. Today’s guest, Vanessa Peters, is an excellent example of someone who fell into that trap but ultimately decided to do something about it. After 10 years of building a career as a Doctor, she realized she wouldn’t achieve her financial goals, even as a high-income earner. Not only was she swimming in debt from years of schooling, but her life revolved around work, leaving little time to enjoy anything else. In 2008, Vanessa decided to start investing in real estate and began with a single-family home. Before long, she moved on to multifamily, mobile home parks, self-storage, short-term rentals, and even land entitlement, which is turning raw land into a “shovel-ready” state. This adds value and can lead to BIG returns, for both syndicators AND passive investors! In this episode, you’ll hear all about Vanessa’s unconventional path to succeeding as a real estate investor. We discuss syndication strategies for passive investing, why cash-flowing assets are so crucial to your success, and the massive opportunities that exist with land entitlements. Here’s just some of what we get into:Realizing her career as a Doctor wouldn’t allow her to succeed financially. The story of her first deal and how she went from single family homes to investing in multifamily real estate. Why holding on to a cash flowing asset (like a single family home) is a smart move, regardless of market conditions. Why real estate syndications are such a passive way to invest your money.Vanessa describes her experience with multifamily, mobile home parks, self-storage, and land entitlement—and the problem she sees with investing in single-family homes. How to invest in “raw land” and make BIG returns by adding value through entitlements. How Vanessa’s investment company bought a $6.5M piece of land and sold it for $17M in less than a year!Hear about Vanessa’s book, The Busy Professionals Guide to Passive Real Estate InvestingFREE GiftFree e-book The Busy Professional’s Guide to Passive Real Estate InvestingFree report From Raw Land to Shovel Ready: Why I Love Investing in Land EntitlementTo get access to these gifts, visit JustinDonald.com/60.Want the Full Show Notes? To get access to the full show notes, including audio, transcripts, and links to all the resources mentioned, visit JustinDonald.com/60Get the Lifestyle Investor Book!To get access to The Lifestyle Investor: The 10 Commandments of Cashflow Investing for Passive Income and Financial Freedom visit JustinDonald.com/bookRate & Review If you enjoyed today’s episode of The Lifestyle Investor, hit the subscribe button on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Castbox, Google Podcasts, iHeart Radio, or wherever you listen, so future episodes are automatically downloaded directly to your device. You can also help by providing an honest rating & review. Today, I’m speaking with Sam Marks. At the age of 24, after some early setbacks (including 4 arrests while in College) Sam moved from the US to the UK and founded the e-cigarette company, SKYCIG. In 2013, the business was acquired for $100 million!Sam had all this money, but no idea what to do with it. He gave 40% of his earnings from the sale of the business to a financial advisory team to manage—later realizing they were losing him money, even when the markets were up. He felt manipulated, duped, and frustrated by the entire process. He decided it was time to take control of his money. Despite having zero investing experience, he started the Invest Like a Boss podcast, so he could interview and learn from the most experienced investors in the world—while also passing that knowledge on to others.Sam is now an angel investor, serial entrepreneur, and his investment portfolio includes 400 self-storage units in Hong Kong, a microbrewery in Australia, rental properties across Thailand, and several early stage startups. He’s also visited more than 100 countries while living off passive income and pursuing his bucket list.In our conversation, you’ll learn about Sam’s entrepreneurial journey, what it was like to negotiate and secure a $100 Million acquisition deal, and the passive income investments that allow him to travel the world and live life on his terms. Here’s just some of what we get into:The early setbacks that led to Sam’s entrepreneurial journeyHow Sam’s various side hustles led to building an e-cigarette business out of the back of his car.Negotiating a $100 Million acquisition deal—and the problems he faced along the way.Why even the most successful exits are often a negative experience for entrepreneurs. Why letting an advisory team manage 40% of his earnings lost him money and ended up being a really horrible experience.Foundational investing principles you need to understand in order to master your money. How Sam diversified his portfolio and built a lifestyle around his investments—including residential property in Thailand and 400+ self-storage units in Hong Kong.FREE GiftGet Sam's free report outlining his Top 10 Tips for Stock Investing. Ep 46046: Daniel Alonzo on Building a Highly Scalable Business and Living Life on Your Terms
Even the most driven of us are sometimes forced to swerve from our goals when life takes an unexpected turn. And although it might seem like the end of the world at the time, it could also be a major opportunity.Today’s podcast guest, Daniel Alonzo, started in financial services when he was 21 — and was a millionaire by 28 — but that wasn’t his original plan. His dreams of becoming a baseball player were dashed by an injury. Prior to that, he admits, he was a “bad kid,” whose pastimes included breaking into people’s cars, and stealing whatever was loose inside.Little did Daniel know that one of these incidents would set him on the path to success. Inside a stolen boombox was a cassette tape by Jack Canfield of “Chicken Soup For the Soul” fame. The tape was called “Self Esteem & Peak Performance,” and listening to it changed Daniel’s perspective on life. It helped him find focus and set goals. One of those goals was to retire by the age of 30, and he certainly could have done it. By that age, he was generating enough wealth through recruiting other people that he didn’t have to work another day of his life. Of course, he didn’t stop there! Today, Daniel is a coach, entrepreneur, media personality, podcaster, and author of the forthcoming book, Wealth on the Beach. He speaks in front of hundreds of thousands of people a year, teaching them how to create financial freedom and live a better life. In our conversation, Daniel tells me why building relationships is the secret to success, why he chose not to retire, and how he built a highly scalable business that allows him to live an extraordinary life on his terms.Want the Full Show Notes? To get access to the full show notes, including audio, transcripts, and links to all the resources mentioned, visit JustinDonald.com/46Get the Lifestyle Investor Book!To get access to The Lifestyle Investor: The 10 Commandments of Cashflow Investing for Passive Income and Financial Freedom visit JustinDonald.com/bookRate & Review If you enjoyed today’s episode of The Lifestyle Investor, hit the subscribe button on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Castbox, Google Podcasts, iHeart Radio, or wherever you listen, so future episodes are automatically downloaded directly to your device. You can also help by providing an honest rating & review.
