At times parents make vows that their children will never go through the same "hardship" that they went through. And so we go through great lengths to make sure that they are shielded from our perceived hardships.
At the end of the day, there is a way in which we deprive them of the vision to serve humanity. One of the greatest things we can leave in our children is vision. Since vision is always outward looking to other people, there is a way that it can help people to serve humanity.
